Kapex v dewalt 717

I currently  have the 717 with dewalt but I'm thinking of buying a Kapex with ug stand mainly for 2 reasons
1. The Kapex is on wheels making it much easier to move on and off site
2. The dewalt stand takes up so much room in my van

Other reasons include better dust extraction Although I use a generator on a lot of jobs and it is not powerful enough to run my midi and saw at the same time
The stand looks more solid than the out supports on the dewalt stand

But
On paper the 717 is a better saw with larger capacity and more power

Has anyone owned both and could give their opinions?

There may be an issue running the kapex off a generator best to check it out before you take the plunge ..

Unfortunately I can only go on paper stats as i have not used one and hence the reason I ask on here.

It does not sound like I can do anything with it if it will not run on a generator
Can anyone confirm this? Seems ridiculous to make a site saw that will not run on a generator

With a decent quality generator it should not be a problem. I suggest calling FESTOOL to see if they have qualified some generators for use with the KAPEX as the quality of the output on the generator could have an effect on the controlling electronics of the KAPEX.

Think there's been a couple of discussions around generators.
Fancy that it's more a question of if your's will do the job adequately.
Ideally, the generator needs to have a 'clean & genuine' sinusoidal output + enough headroom to allow for start-up surge.
(Some equipment with (relatively) sophisticated  electronics, can get upset if they don't get that.  For eg, would be wary of running a laptop on any old generator.)
Lots of generators give out a non-sinusoidal output, which is often not a problem - but prudent to use a better one, which can be expensive.
Would need to check spec's carefully.
