Kapex.....

[scratch chin] [scratch chin] Sooo, i decided since the rest of the weirdo thing i made looked pretty good...i would go ahead and bite the bullet and use my Kapex for some aluminum cutting.  I usually cut "junk" like this on my dealt saw...let's face it, the Kapex is a pretty pricey machine...Ok, after purchasing the $145.00 aluminum saw blade, i made some cuts...

Also, I cut 13 of these little dudes...

I have no idea if these photos will be in the right spot here??
ANYway...The funniest thing happened, or didn't happen, not ONE single time did any of these pretty small little pieces of aluminum go flying like what normally happens with my dewalt saw.
I'd say that for the very first time i used the kapex for cutting aluminum to have absolutely NO PROBLEMS even with these little tiny pieces of very cheap grade aluminum is a pretty good endorsement.  But then again, I VERY rarely have any pieces of anything go flying from being caught in the "wind wash" of the spinning blade while using the Kapex, maybe I'm just good at it????

Why would you need a spark trap?  Aluminum is a non ferrous metal and doesn't make sparks when it's cut.

Spark trap shouldn't be needed. Aluminum doesn't heat as hot at something like steel and cools very quickly and doesn't spark when cutting it.

The Spark Trap was recently discontinued from what I understand.

I don't use dust extraction when cutting metals.

all i did was clamp the metal with the hold down and push the saw straight   the cut is a statement of the saws ability to cut nicely.  by the way, no sanding of the cut pieces was necessary to make a nice looking joint.IMO

Thought I'd add a picture of what these aluminum pieces were for.  (They wouldn't pay for stainless)
They had a general color wood and "wrought iron" concept for a pot rack and I suggested a "mirror" piece with lights instead of MORE recessed ceiling lights to help balance it out.  There's lots of work in this house, but this is just one of the "touches"
