Just a few pics of my latest project. It's an addition to an existing kitchen, built to house a fancy cooking/blender gizmo called a Thermomix.

Just putting the drawers in today, I was short two boxes so have to go back and finish the lefthand section. Carcases are mfc in crema and all fronts are painted 22mm Mr mdf with 6mm panels. I don't often get involved in supplying painted stuff but this time I've got my own painter in and I'm supplying a finished job. It's a nice change as I don't often see my work painted/finished.

The wall unit needs painting in-situ and all the base needs a final coat. Dovetail drawer boxes were bought in from a helpful UK forum member who works at Isaac lords , cheers Paul.

Excuse the quality of the photos they were just quickie phone photos. Luckily enough the client is a photographer so I might get a few better ones when its finished.

Oh there's a fancy extractor going up too to the left of the wall unit.

As an avid DIY'er, I'm honing my skills at spotting various techniques but the photos and angles are a little misleading.

Are the drawer and cupboards fronts 22mm MR-MDF with 6mm panels glued on to them (faux panels) or are they rails and stiles with a floating panel? I've had a "test" faux panel door of similar design on the wardrobes at home for about three years now...  [embarassed]

It also looks like you're using 19mm MFC for the carcass. Would you mind me asking where you are sourcing it from and how much you pay?

And finally, given the position of the clamps and the joint lines, and although you can't see it clearly in the photos, it looks like the drawers must be half-blind dovetails? And poplar? I can't find them on the Isaac Lord website. Are they a special order?

Hope you don't mind all the questions. Have learnt *tons* about Festool tools from this forum but having spent a fortune on them, now looking to hone my techniques.

If your painter has any tips to pass on with regard to painting MR-MDF, that would be awesome too.  [unsure]

Hi , the fronts are all proper framed with loose panel (in fact the panels are glued as its all mdf). I used a t&g cutter set in my router table.

The mfc is 18mm egger and I use a place near me called cutwrights, google them they are very good. You can fill out an online cut list then just pay over the phone, have it delivered or collect.

The drawer boxes are beech and are dovetail on all four corners. I used blum tandem blumotion runners. If you ring Isaacs ask for Paul Mills and mention Chris and he will help.

Isaacs at High Wycombe is probably half way between you and me. My brother lives up your way in cookley don't know if you know it ?

Yes. Cookley isn't that far away - probably about 40 minutes by car. My father-in-law and brother-in-law live in Kinver and Enville respectively which are very near to Cookley.

I can't see any connectors on the 18mm MFC - is it dowelled or dominoed?

Yeah the carcasses are dominoed and pocket screwed. It's the first time I've used the domino on a paying job, very pleased with it.

Personally that's exactly what I would do normally but this all has to match an existing kitchen.

Oh by the way the plinth still needs painting incase you wondered.

We call gables > end panels here and the kicker is a plinth here hope that helps

Yeah until I did this job that's all I had used the domino for, cutting adjustable slots

Now I've actually used some dominos quite a few in fact.

Yeah I know what you mean, I've cut loads for jigs and "F" clamp racks and such, much quicker than a router set up. [big grin]
Once you start using them on jobs you need to remember to add their cost in too....so easy to forget [embarassed] a bit like glue !
I nearly always forget how much glue costs  [doh]

Painter has finished now and I've been back and fitted the extractor after getting a roofer in to fit a pipe to the pitched roof above.

A few more pics but the extractor wasn't up when I took these. On the home straight now , I've also been busy building some bookcases in another room.

Shame the lighting in the kitchen is mostly energy saving bulbs so its a bit dark for photos. Good thing is the customer is a professional photographer so he will do a decent set of photos when its all finished.
