Was in Woodcraft today and the manager told me Kreg company is changing the square drive to a combo drive the first of the year.

Any one else hear this? I wish they would go to a star drive?

The new tool box kits already have the new screws and bits?

So is this good news? How many of you prefer an unidrive bit?

They've already been shipping these new drive styles. And yes, the kit boxes came with the new style.

I can't stand unidrive/combo. I just purchased a pack of 5000 1 1/4"...wish I had ordered more of the screw products pocket screws, but I ordered the Kreg screws during McFeelys 15% off sale. All in all, at 1/3 of the screw products price, I'll survive!

I own a lot of Spax- All Pozi and Torx.
This is the first I've seen of the "Unidrive"
Half of me says...Interesting compromise. Other half says...Not Again....

According to their website, McFeely's still sells Robertson drive (not combo) Pocket Hole screws. They are not Kreg screws, but I can tell you from personal experience that unless they have changed specs (I doubt it), their pocket hole screws are as strong, if not stronger, than anything else available. Kreg sells good screws too, but if you want Robertson recess screws, just do a search for Pocket Hole screws and you will find plenty of choices.

I do not work for McFeely's, although I used to.
