Kreg K5 dust collection

Now, if someone could explain how to connect a hose to the Kreg port without having it pull out every time you fart, we'd really have something.

I have found a perfect and cheap solution!

A length of 25mm conduit, and a 25mm coupling section (£3 total) (from B&Q). The OD of the coupling section is 30mm which is a piston fit inside the Kreg dust shroud. Then insert a piece of the conduit into this and attach the Festool vac - the 27mm (ID 25mm) hose fits perfectly over the 25mm conduit  [big grin].

I covered this in a review that I did of the K5 versus the older Kreg jigs over at talkFestool. I ended up swapping the dust port of a K4 and popped it into my new K5. You DO lose the swivel ability of the K5, but no more port popping off the jig... [mad]  I think it's a simple shortcoming that Kreg should address with the K5, but for now, that older dustport is available as a really cheap part from them to fix your k5 if you want. I think it's $10 or less at various vendors, not  including shipping.

My Fein step adapter fits it perfectly and allow excellent dust extraction. It is a 3 step rubber adapter that if quite pliable.

I upgraded my Kreg dust collection for $0.87 by getting this plumbing tube at HD, 20 sec with a heat gun and it slid over the dust outlet and the other end was already enlarged, the festool hose end fits tight inside that. I may shorten it a little so the  weight of the hose wont interfere.http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt...sion-Tube-CP9786/205153773?keyword=4119346114
Cool fix- Can you post a picture once you're all done?  [thumbs up]

Fein adapter works perfectly. Like the 3D printed one though! pretty cool. Is the collection any better since its larger?

The Kreg K-5 pocket hole jig has a really annoying habit with the dust shroud falling off with the slightest disturbance, so I stuck it to the jig with epoxy resin. It doesn't annoy me anymore. I have no idea why this part can be removed, hence the glue.

An extractor hose reducer I had for years fits the Kreg dust port and the Festool extractor hose a treat.

I have the problem with the dust shroud falling off, also. It seems sturdy enough, but the weight of the hose pulls it off.  Guess I will have to glue mine, too.

I have access to a 3D printer at my work and had them make one for me.
