Kreg systainer

I just picked up a Kreg 720 and it appears there is a systainer and insert available for it, but not that I can find in North America. Anyone know of a source for one

Is there anything special about this insert, or is just a piece of vacuum-formed plastic sheet as other inserts?

If it is just a normal insert, I wouldn't bother. Those feel cheap anyway. If you can find some shadow foam near you, you can easily cut a better insert at a lower cost.
 
So, they sell a branded Systainer, for a US company's product, but you can't get them in the US?
I get it that the Systainers are made in Germany, but do people actually buy Kreg jigs over there?
20 odd years ago, they pretty much had the market, in the US. At least for hand-held jigs, Castle machines were around, but much more commercial shop oriented.
Everybody and their dog makes them now.
My old K-5 does everything I need. I don't really get the point of these-new self-adjusting things.
95% of the time, it's set for 3/4" and doesn't change. It doesn't need all of that erector set mechanism.
 
Be careful, don’t be surprised when they hit you with tariffs and tariff implementation charges. When it comes to tariffs, everyone takes their cut and it’s not pretty.
 
It is less the insert and more the Kreg branded systainer, but if I can get both I will. I can use Kaizan Foam in it if the insert isn't available.
The trip across the pond, the tariffs and the wait time is why I am trying to find one over here first. If not I can just use a regular systainer but that seems boring compared to the fancy branded one.

You could just buy one here and use it until the opportune moment comes to get the Kreg branded Sys.

It's not like you wouldn't be able to use that extra Systainer...

I wonder why? I get it that joe-homeowner doesn't want the extra expense, but why not at least make it available?
Even as an accessory or spare part, would help out the few who would.
I have a couple of non-Festool units. TSO and Woodpeckers, as of now. I used to have an Orange Fein too. It was some special addition for the Multimaster. I lost it, in the fire.
I'd take that option, if it was available.
 
Agree. I have a TSO and a UJK. I also have some with different color latches. I like having them vary. It’s nice to know out of the corner of your eye what’s in them.

I really don’t know why. My guess has always been that it’s one of two things:

They somehow believe the markets are different enough that it’s not worthwhile here. Which, as you say, why not at least make it available - how much trouble could it be to have it be a spare part option?

More likely, I think, is that those decisions aren’t made by 3M or Kreg at the corporate HQ level. It’s possible that Kreg’s European division has the autonomy to offer such things in their market, and most of the company on this side of the ocean doesn’t even know it exists.

You're probably right. I would guess that the whole Systainer thing is more popular in Europe, much like the Bott rails.
A lot of guys here think the whole Festool brand is insane.

TSO offers several things that way. You can get it in a simple cardboard box or with the foam, (I assume for the Systainer you already have?) or you can get the branded one from them too.

This bit really has baffled me for ages, posts on practically any social media are often filled with rabid posts about Festool tools and their cost in general, pretty much mainly from US posters.

It's always amazed me that people running any form of business don't see the benefits and value in quality tools.
 
Yeah, I will just pick up a regular systainer for it. If the Kreg one pops up for sale I will grab it, cause I am a sucker for systainers. I was able to pick up the Sawstop systainer a couple weeks ago locally. Wasn't able to buy it from Sawstop when they announced they were going to be given away with the purchase of a saw. Since I already have 2 Sawstop saws I wasn't buying a 3rd to get the systainer!
