Kreg track saw blade

In what saw?

The Festool blades are 160mm, 2.2mm kerf (or 1.8mm for the HK). That blade is 165mm, 2.3mm kerf.

It may not fit at all, so you’d need to be very careful checking clearances, and your depth gauge would be off too.

Yes!  [unsure]

You are right.  I was thinking for the HK as it may 45 2x better for my needs?  May not be worth trashing the splinter guard on my rails though?

Thanks, Sam

I think I’ve read posts where people have squeezed a 165 into the HK, but it was extremely tight - so tight that you couldn’t just assume it would be fine in your saw because it fit in someone else’s.

And if you have the cordless HKC then the kerf increase might seriously affect battery life, not to mention potentially eating your tracks splinter strip. And who knows what the extra load might do to the motor and electronics, regardless of whether it’s corded or cordless.

Honestly, I don’t really see the benefit. Are compatible blades hard to come by over there?

I’ve seen a trend blade on eBay through the UK but it’s more than that Kreg.

Really what I need is an HK85.  [dead horse]

I think the only (almost) compatible blade Trend make is 162mm, 20mm, 1.8mm 48T. All their 160mm blades are at least 2.2mm kerf.

I think Key Blades do HK compatible versions of their 24T and 48T, but I don’t know if they’re available in the US.

That blade is 165mm and 2.2mm kerf. It MAY just fit but at the very least the kerf is wider than your riving knife.

As Mr Xpander says, that’s still the wrong size. Amazon US do have a couple of Key Blades ‘Mafell fitment’ 162 x 1.8mm blades that would be a much safer bet.

Maybe you should explain exactly what you’re trying to achieve. Is it just a source of cheaper blades for the HK, or are you specifically looking for 165mm because you need the 2.5mm extra depth of cut for some reason?

Cutting 2x at a 45 degree leaves a little material uncut at the outer corner.  Not a big deal but we also use a lot of rough redwood for exterior projects that is larger.

Really what we could use in the US is the HK85.
