Kreg's bjornklader review

...as far as i know the only pants bjorklader offers with removable pockets are the niche pants that zip off into shorts. might be nice this spring. They don't have knee pad pockets though

You get spoiled so fast with those knee pads that it's hard to be without them.  I've been eying those 3/4 length pants but a C note of em' is kinda steep.

The knee pads I like are the Patella-Ts (http://www.fluidforms.com/patella_t/innovations/index.html) due to the gel-filled pads inside.  I've had a pair over 12 years, and recently had to replace the gel-pads, but these things REALLY are the knee-savers.  The only down-side is that it gets hot on under them on summer days.

I contacted Blaklader the other day and asked if they were bringing the 3/4 pants to the US and they said in 2012 that's their plan. I'm bummed cuz I like the Blaklader pockets...they're not too big or bulky.

So, I'm to try and hem up a pair of the paints just below the kneepad and have the benefit of the 3/4 pant with a kneepad and 8oz material for the summer!

P.S.  I won't be doing the hemming!  That's not in my skill set!

brice and bob are you guys seriously thinking of running around in a pair of capri pants? your gonna get some strange looks, lol

You bet I am!  I love summer...won't find me wearing pants in heat of that time of year though!  Always wore Carhartt shorts and break out behind my knees from kneepad straps mixed with sweat and such!  Weird looks are cool with me...I was at Target lastnight picking up a blowdryer for my wife and I had to ask where they were located and they employee exploded in laughter cuz I shave my head shiny bald!!!  I really don't care what other guys on the jobsite think...I'll be comfy!

Tim thanks for posting !
The knee pads fit much better as they are on the inside sleeve of the pants and come out to wash

I used to wear the other brand but like these much better, much.

How heavy are these pants?  The Blakladder heavy worker paints are a little too heavy for my tastes.  Do the tool pouches come off?

brice, they are a canvas type pants and no the tool pouches do not come off unless you cut them off !  they make lighter weight ones, just not the ace, go to their website.  but I will  tell you I wear them every day and have 3 pair so I can wash them now and then!  but once you start wearing them you will love them.  I have not put on a tool belt for over 2 years now do not have a need the pants take that place.

Kreg, you need to update your avatar. In the current one it looks like your wearing blue jeans?
