Looking to upgrade to either an AAA system or the Kremlin 15C25 pump. I've been looking at the Graco 395 finishpro II as well as the Graco Merkur pumps.
I typically spray waterborne paint such as SW pro Classic, BM Advance, PPG breakthrough etc. My Fuji 5 Stage will be used for very thin materials as well as clear top coats and some primers such Duralaq Undercoater.

Any feedback would be extremely helpful. Looking for some ideas, advice, opinions etc.

Cheers,
JC

Will your pump only be used in the shop or onsite as well? I ask this because you’re pushing a compressor pretty hard to run something like the Kremlin or Merker in the field.

You could also make your own AAA. I did this using a Titan ED655 pump, CA Technologies Cougar gun and California Air Tools 4620 AC compressor.

Hello I run my Kremlin 15C25 with a 4.5 cfm compressor no problem
Kremlin parts are expensive but the pumps are absolutely the easiest to rebuild
Plus you get the Xcite gun which is in my opinion is the best!

I’ve been running the Mekur off of a 4 gallon 2hp compressor, just because.

A dryer is a must.

Be ready to deliver a lot of paint quickly. You need to move much faster with the pump than with the HVLP.

From what I have heard from others, the Xcite gun is a great gun.

Get the stand model so you can take it into the field if the need arises.

So far I prefer the Merkur over the AAA.

What ever you get, make sure it is designed for waterborne.

I’m curious what kind of air filtration setups people are using? Especially in the field?

At a bare minimum I’ll use a Mini Desiccant Filter at the gun when I’m working in the field.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014DEV6...olid=3JH6MZCFPFD8S&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

In the shop I’ve got a larger 2 stage air filter. I’d like to start using it in the field, but I need to mount it to something since it can’t just sit on the floor. It would be cool to mount it in a Milwaukee Packout box that I could also store extra air hoses and parts in. Hmmmm... I’ll have to think about that.

I think this is the model I’m using:https://www.prevostusa.com/alto-1-2...or-gauge-included-with-wall-bracket-3425.html

It is. For some reason it lays the finish down better than the 395AAA. It’s more controlable.

Which model/configuration do you have?

Sorry forgot to ask ...because any water in the airline is circulated through the pump and it rusts/screws up the pump motor?

The moisture in the air lines can cause contamination issues with the finishes. It can affect both waterborne and solvent based finishes, but the issue is worse with solvent based.

My dryer is also a filter.

I also have have dedicated air hoses for the paint systems. Most of my hoses have had oil run through them due to my use of auto tool oilers.
