Hey guys,

Doing a load of skirting recently I had an offcut shoot up into the blade guard and pretty much lock up against the blade. Had to remove the guard to get it out. Anyway I had to remove the central return spring but could not figure out where the one end of the spring locates. Had a look at the exploded parts diagram but that was not help. In the end had to wire the guard up to get me through the rest of the day but need to strip it back down now and get it working again.

Anyone have any knowledge about where it locates before I start stripping it down?

Thanks in advance

The spring is an odd shape, like splayed trumpet ends to it.
They are fiddly but doable.
You need to remove the blade and also the guard carefully, if you have a torch (flashlight) aim it up into the front right of the blade housing, and there is a little spur. One end of the spring goes on the spur, then you have to offer the guard back, and run the spring around the guard centre, and locate the end, into the small recess there.

Make sure the linkage is in place, this moves the guard as the saw head is lowered.
Once you get the spring and linkage located, secure the guard back in place, test the operation of the blades guard, before fitting the blade, and cover etc.

It’s fiddly but, once you’ve done it once, it‘s easier. Take photos at each stage when stripping, then it’s easier to re assemble. I had to do the same on mine, then made a zero clearance fence and insert.
