Happy New Year to everyone....  I want to post a quick note to acknowledge  the continued great service I get from Tom at Tool-Home.com.  If you don't already have a good dealer that is taking care of your Festool needs, consider giving Tom a call and seeing how he can help you

The other day a new man on the crew rolled one of  the CT26 down the steps while he was sanding plaster (UUGGHHH).  No one thought to check inside the vac, and it turned out that the bag had come loose.  They continued to work and finished the day by sanding a lot of plaster and drywall.  Yesterday, my lead man called to say that the inside of the CT26 was wasted.  He found that the bag was loose and we deduced what had happened when the unit rolled down the stairs.

I then called Tom to order filters.  I left a message, and, as is his habit, Tom called back promptly to see what he could do to help.

Even though it was later in the day on Dec 31, and FedEx wasn't coming for any pickups, Tom went to the post office to send the filters I need by priority mail.  This is typical of the way Tom does things, and it's not the first time that Tom has gone out of his way to get things to us quickly and to "go the extra mile" to help out.

After striking out with two local dealers that apparently didn't care that we have a credit card and a long list of tools that we need, I found Tom via this forum and he's been a great resource ever since.

I always maintained that the online venders are the way to go. By the time I could drive to a local vendor the order is in the the stuff on the way from online venders. No waste of gas and no waste of time.  :)

I'll pass kudos to Tom as well. He's helped me out several times.

Regarding local v. online...I'd love to buy locally. I'm a big proponent of keeping money and taxes local. I'm also a proponent of small biz.

BUT, I'd rather buy from someone online who is enthusiastic, eager to help, and really knows their stuff instead of buying from the local guys around here who only act like they know their stuff (almost any question with any detail at all stumps them).

Yes indeed Tom is one of the best along with the venerable Mr. Marino.  I have extolled their virtues often on this website.
