large Walnut shelving unit

I'm not really sure what will be stored here? They are way too deep for books, but Walnut veneer is not exactly utilitarian. I assume, by the odd spacing, that it is something very specific?
The first pic is only 2/3 of it. I ran out of time this afternoon. The last part will go on tomorrow, with that same 6" spacing. Once assembled, it gets a 2" wide face frame around the whole thing.
The backs were left off so far, to allow for clamping the spacers between each unit.

More pics. That's as far as it will get from me. The face frame parts went off to the finish dept and the three units were separated and moved to shipping/storage, after the backs went on.
The whole thing goes into an alcove, about 16" above the floor, so there is no mounting base.
