Laser Issue

When I got the saw, the left laser was spot on in accuracy.  The right laser was out to the right too far.  Went by the instructions in the book and even cleaned the lens.  In the pic you can barely see the right hand laser dashes[attachimg=1].  Is this warranty or is there something else I need to do to fix it?

You might want to check the blade guard.  If that is clean then I would contact the service department.

Just a thought.

Thanks Peter...

I apologize for not contacting them first.  Does that right laser look dim to you?  Just askin.

David,

I have noticed that my blade guard sometimes gets some crud build up in areas - but not all.  That is why I suggested that you check yours.  You could also very carefully turn your lasers on and partially press the trigger to release the head and then get the guard out of the way to see if the laser is like that when it is a solid line.  Even safer would be to remove the blade before doing this.  That will tell you if it is the laser or crud.

Be careful please.

My laser looked like that when I over adjusted the tilt adjustment.  I took a bit  of fiddling but I got it to come back in.

I think that is the issue.

I tried all of the other things to look at and try with the guard, etc.  Still very faint right laser beam.  I will try that other adjustment, but won't that mess up something else in the laser calibration?  Just askin...

Is it better to have someone here walk through it or should I read the book and adjust that way?  Never tried to adjust a laser beam before.

You wont  mess up your calibration.  In fact it is part of get your laser dead on.  Read the supplemental manual.  After you make the left/right adjustment with the head lowered.  You needed to adjust the tilt with the head up.  This is where you can effect the brightness.  I turned mine more then needed and the laser went passed my mark then faded to nothing,  then came back to my line much brighter.  I was turning the same the whole time.  You will have to experiment.

Mine did that also and I'm pretty sure it was the tilt.  Of coarse I messed with it before reading the manual and had it all screwed up.  Then read the manual and all is well.

Thanks for the pointers, guys!  I will check and adjust all and then see where I stand.  Will let you guys know how it turns out.  Thanks again for all the great information.

You're fairly new to the forum, and you referred to the manual as a "book". So I'm guessing that you may not have read the Kapex Supplemental Manual that the previous posters have mentioned. Page 28 describes the procedure and sequence for adjusting the lasers.

On a few occassions, I've had to take some compressed air and blow everything out good, which always rectified my laser dimming. Also once in a while I'll remove to laser lense and give it a good cleaning which seems to crisp up my lines.

Problem solved - followed page 28 in the Supplemental Manual and went through the adjustments.  Thank you for your time and suggestions.
