Hi there,

just wanted to share my latest try on foam inserts.
I had 4 layers of 10mm  polyurethane foam cut on a friend's laser cutter after my drawings.
Since this was just a test how well it would work out, it's just a Testo IR temperature gauge in a SYS mini.

I glued the layers together using spray glue.

I'm pretty impressed by the results.

Looks very good Max. I'm afraid that I'd wear out my welcome with your friend if my "test" turned out that well.

Hello Unclejoe,

It's a chinese-made 40W Laser engraving machine. Carbondioxide laser tube.

With his current setup, the practical limit for cutting foam seems to be around 10mm because of the beam focus.

We did some test with 20mm foam that did not cut through properly.
My friend told me there's other lenses available that would change the characteristics of the beam.

I also drew some Inserts for normal size systainers, but haven't tested them yet.
