This is my latest homemade MFT. I've made several but this is the best one to date. The last one was built on an Astro brand folding work table but was too heavy with the additions and not accurate to cut as I drilled the 3/4" holes myself. I basically made it for clamping work pieces.  But since I've seen how easy it is to cut things perfectly 90 degrees with the new Parf dogs and a track saw, I figured it was time to make a better one. The other one was also not as sturdy as I would like, so this one is only the top which I lay on two saw horses and it is solid. No moving around. It starts with a 3/4" piece of 24" by 48" Medex which is a high quality MDF with 20 mm holes on 4" centers drilled with a CNC machine. I put an oil finish on it to protect it from the humid air. I added some Incra t-slot railings down one side and installed my woodworking vise on the other. I have holes drilled for the vise on the end also if I need to move it. I also have 2 DeWalt clamps that I modified earlier to fit into the holes to clamp vertically or now in the t-slot to hold items horizontally. I can also use the Parf dogs to cut pieces with my track saw when I don't want to fire up the table saw with the dust collector.

Thanks for looking and I welcome any questions.

Rob

I assume you paid to have the CNC work done? Do you mind if I ask how much it cost?

It was done by a friend who owns a high end cabinet shop who didn't charge me so I don't know what it would have been. So I took some lunch over for the workers the next day. I kept asking him how much but got no answer. I actually am curious to how long it took and what it supposed to have cost me.

This looks great,i cant justify another MFT which is a difficult to get in and out of my small workshop so this is a perfect solution to carry in my work van.

I have agreed to do some installing for my kitchen cabinet supplier next month while his regular guy is away so i think i will barter an install for a machined top.Maybe some ply legs that push together and store flat as well.

Is this 18mm MDF you have used and what is the overall dimensions?

I'm also interested how you got the clamps to work.  Has anyone paid to have the CNC work done?  Curious as to how much it costs.

It is cut off in each pic but I am guessing he either cut the nib off the top of the clamp and inserts it from the bottom or he shaved the back of the clamp down so it can slide into the hole.

I got a quote for an outfit in Gainesville, GA to do a 4'X8' 3/4 high end MDF. They quoted $95 which included the MDF. Don't own a holy rail so it makes it quite attractive.
