Of course, if you Canadians would all just agree to become our 51st State, there wouldn't BE ANY issues!! [poke]

If you guys could finally convert to the metric system, adopt the parliamentary system and French (Canadian) as your other, other official language it might work. [big grin]
Tim
We'd need to have AN official language first;)

Tim, we are well on our way to a second official language---Spanish.  I can't imagine taking on French, as well !  [scared]

Metric? Sure, why not... don't know why we haven't done that already.
Parliament? We decided a couple hundred years ago to do away with that.
Official language? We're too afraid of offending anyone to have an "official" language. You can speak anything you like here as long as it's not proper English...

If I remember correctly, back in the 70s, both the US and Canada had decided to look into converting to metric.  the US got such a backlash from the public that they abandoned the idea.  Canada began converting and had almost converted completely, (gallons to litres, pounds to kilograms, inches to cm, etc) but, because we did so much trade with the US we kind of stopped half way through the process.  Even though we are officially "metric" we still do a lot of imperial stuff.  In the construction trades, everything is still in inches and feet.  Kilograms in the grocery store stores are sometimes converted back to pounds for us older folks. Highway speeds show in Kilometres per hour.  Gasoline sells in litres.  We are kind of a mish/mash of both systems.  If you guys hurry up and convert, maybe we can get back to a standard single system too.
My son goes to the US a lot for work (robotics in manufacturing plants) and he tells me everything in Canada and the US is metric in his industry. So, it sounds like most industry in the US uses metric. The public needs to be convinced.

I know that there is a lot of kidding going on but let's not get political here please.  This is tool oriented forum after all.

Just another feather in Festool's cap!  Awesome that they made accommodations for our brethren in the North!

Of course, if you Canadians would all just agree to become our 51st State, there wouldn't BE ANY issues!! [poke]

Frank

I second that!

I see this as more of a feather in lee valley's cap. Having probably the largest distribution of festool products in Canada, they took a stand for everyone else.

Agreed. I doubt anything would have happened had they not pushed the issue. Sometimes you just gotta stir the pot.

Being in the US I haven't purchased any Festool from LV, but they got thousands of dollars in purchases from me last year for other things. IMHO their customer service is unmatched on everything, not just Festool. I am a very happy customer.

Ya I'm a regular lee valley customer and will continue to be. I'm lucky (my wallet is not) that I live close to one. Keep up the good work Rob and Co.
