Let's see pictures of your shops.

Hey guys, once upon a time I thought I saw a topic that had pictures posted of people's shops. I've been searching for an hour and can't seem to find it, so I thought I'd try to start a new one.

I'm in the process of adding to my shop, and I'm hungry for ideas. They say the best ideas are the ones you haven't thought of yet...so, how about a bunch of us post pictures of what we think to be the neatest parts of our shops? You know, the parts that turned out just the way you like them or the parts that took a lot more work to get done than we'd like to admit to. Pictures of custom tool storage, specialty cabinets that house compressors or table saws or router tables, floor layouts, multifunction areas, and just about anything that you can't own by simply going to a box box store would be great to see.

My idea is to post one reply per "item" with an explanation of what it's for, how you did it, and a small summary of your project's success as well as what you would do differently the second time around.

I hope this takes off, and though my pride and joy shop creation is torn apart for the moment while I revamp the table top to hold vertical clamps around the edges...when it is done I will post some pics for all to either envy or scoff.  [smile]

Give me some winner ideas y'all!
Jake

Most of the time my shop is the customers driveway or garage !  Set up build take down. Next!!!!

I've been there. These days I'm always at home, so I'm trying to make things as permanent and efficient as possible. Maybe I just like working on the shop more than I like working in the shop. haha

Ditto!  [embarassed]

Well, here are a few pictures. I finally got around to putting some lining in my drawers, arranging my drills and building a new top so I can have a separate cutting table and milling/assembly table.

Everything in my life is half-done, but it'll get done eventually.

Your like me, OCD about tools? Nice stuff. Was this space built for you or did you have to chip out the concrete for dust collection?

It's a 60 something year old basement, so I had to drill and chisel the concrete out with a rotary hammer, but I've very glad I did all the work. I forget that the cover is there and just walk right over it. It's got a 7 inch dust line, 3 12/2 electrical circuits and an airline running through there, so it cut down on a lot of tripping for me.

Jake,

You are almost as much of a Woodpecker's freak as I am !  [cool]  That is some serious DC plumbing you have going on too.

Nice cabinets, tables, and drawers.

I figured I would revive this two month old thread...instead of starting another "shop" thread!

Here's some photos of my shop!

I'm not a professional cabinet shop...I'm basically a remodeler, I install a lot of kitchens.  Most of my shop work is for the clients of designer that I work with.  I tend to get quite a few built-ins and many other various projects.

I'd be happy to answer any questions about my little tweaks that you may see!

Enjoy, Bob

My apologies in advance for the untidy space!  Children, lots of work, only 24 hours in a day & an occasional moment to sleep...there's just not enough time in a day!

Bob, it looks great!

If you have time maybe more picture of of the main table with portable saw and open drawer and show details in your shots.  The Router table is interesting and I wonder what is behind drawer/door number one....LOL

Cheers,
Steve

Yup, it looks good. I like how you are using the MFT as an out feed table for the circular saw. I'm in the process of doing the same thing with a Sawstop.

@Steve...the drawer just stores most of my Incra Wonderfence parts when not in use plus a Baltic birch subfence.

Here is a neat way that I store the parallel guides. I couldn't find a safe way to store them so I built these little niches. I built them to have enough room on top so that I just lift them and pull them out!

I don't have any drawers in the main table yet.  I sized the openings so that a systainer will fit perfectly in a drawer!

@Sal...thanks for the comment!  It works so much better than my previous setup!

@CutsTwice...I've been doing the saw to MFT outfeed for quite a while since I have such a small space!  It works in my space!

Bob your shop looks awesome.  One day I hope to have a shop, especially detached  from the house so I can escape to.

Dave

Thanks Dave!  I am very fortunate to have as much space as I do.  My wife is not pleased that she has to park in the driveway and stare at the pipe dream of parking in a garage!  But the space makes me money when I have the projects and nobody can really complain at that.  I'm sure that I could facilitate keeping everything portable and shoving everything to one side so she can fit in, but when you introduce snow, ice, water into a space that's relatively controlled (insulated, vapor barrier, sheetrock) then it makes for a bad scene when all of that moisture is trapped in that space.

I wish it was detached...it's separated from a breezeway that was added to the house many years before we purchased.  The awesome thing about that is that the contractors who did the add on left all of the sheathing on the original side of the house and then went over that with a shiplap, so my garage is well sound insulated from the rest of the house!  I'm often in the shop quite late at night running all of the power tools and nobody is bothered!

Anytime you wanna come up with Ken & hang, open door policy!!!
