I've had one swapped under warranty before :) the dealer sent it away, stabila tested it and I picked up a brand new one from the dealer.

I am going to be purchasing a new 6ft level and a 4 ft and I am curious to see what other people are using and would recommend

Stabila. I have each size from 9" to 8'  its really amazing to use the right size level for what you are working with. Only one I do not have is the expandable. a friend and competitor helped me frame an addition this summer and when it was time to level the 8' 6" walls he brought out the expandable, it really was nice!  Of course since I started coloring my koolaide green, I cant seem to find the money to buy it lol! ;D

I use Empire. They are guaranteed accurate to 0.0005" per inch and are made from aircraft aluminum. They also have the rubber end caps.

When I need to really know. Starrett 199 master level.

Stabila IP65 electronic level.

I'm in the midst of a kitchen remodel, doing everything but the cabinets and countertops and it's been indispensable. I've even been able to find a few places where the cabinet installer didn't do such a great job and have been able tell the cabinet company owner specifically, in degrees, how far off level he was.

One of the very cool features of this level is that is has an audible level feature - as you get closer to level, the beeps get closer to a solid tone, until of course you're at level when it becomes a tone. If you go past level, the beeps change pitch so you can tell you've gone too far the other direction. I used the audible feature the other day to level the range - the level sat on top where I could not see it as I adjusted the range feet from floor level.  It's the first time I've had a perfectly level stovetop in as long as I can remember.

I have a number of master levels. I mostly do precision machining. I have a ME background so Festool feeds my precision and organization sickness, in the wood arena.
The 199 is very useful for keeping others levels honest. Since you can resolve better than .0005 per foot. If you do your job.
