Like or follow a topic

Is there any way to be able to like or follow a topic? If not is it a feature that could be added to the forum? There is a lot of great information on this board and often times I come across topics that I would like to be able to reference down the road, but when it comes time to finding that information I can never remember the topic or exact phrasing that was used for the search function to be able to efficiently find the thread, if it is even found at all.

I have recently started using the "Send This Topic" button to email the thread to myself. Perhaps not the best way to do it....

If you are using iPad, you can add to reading list and it will keep the topics you want to reference down the road.  This is what I do, but not sure if you can organize into more specific categories.

On Tapatalk (android and IOS app) you can subscribe to threads.  It sends update notifications when the thread has been commented on.  It also keeps your place within the thread so you can pick up right where you left off instead of scrolling through all of the comments.

Hi,

    Click notify at the top right. You will receive an email when new replies are posted to the topic.

    I suggest adding the topic a folder in your devices "favorites" (bookmark) in order to keep track of a topic for future reference regardless of new replies.

The taptalk idea sounds like what I am looking for and I will look into it. The only issue is that when I am looking for something in particular it is usually on my PC. I do have an android phone and an iPad do it may work. I just don't get why something like that would not be implemented into the forum across platforms. While I appreciate the "Send This Topic" idea it is very outdated as is the "Notify" option. I am very capable of setting up folders, etc. for notifications that are sent by the forum to my email, but it is not a very elegant solution.

I would love to see a separate category that shows all of my "Favorites" or threads that I am "Following" that shows the Topic Name, Category, Original Poster, Date, Last Person to Respond and the date of last response. This way I would have multiple different ways of sorting and searching for threads. As it stands I think the only way that will work for me being that I have multiple platforms is to use Bookmarks. Unfortunately there is no way to easily organize and track threads based on a generic or even custom bookmark name.

Then you are only notified if someone replies. What happens in 6 months when you want to review the information, but nobody has posted any new information?

This would be more for older threads that have information or ideas you would want to review at a later date, not to follow active threads.

Under the modify profile setting, Click notifications.
This will list all subscribed/notified threads. Whether there is a new post, or the last post was 5 years ago.

Yes, I meant to mention that there is a list saved in profile. So in a sense the function exists.

Why don't bookmarks work? You can name and tag them the way you want, making them as descriptive as you need. And then you can organise them into folders, and if you need to retrieve a specific bookmark you can use the search function of your browser. That's how I keep track of FOG threads in FireFox and I can find anything I want, with some threads dating back 7 years.

Thanks Neohio, that is pretty much what I was hoping for. It sure is burried in an awkward spot though.

Alex, bookmarks would have been my next choice and I still might try using them.
