The Limit-Stop merely prevents you from accidentally over-shooting your end mark if you are not cutting all the way through your work. If you place two on a rail you can plunge cut a slot in the middle of your work (thanks to the retracting riving knife) between the two stops, without having to worry about getting your nose too close to the blade to check if you are near your mark.
The stop can also act as kick-back protection when cutting in difficult materials.
