LinkedIn

yep. I'm on linkedIn. I have a love/hate with this, but more so with Facebook. For a website that has no revenue, do you know what Facebook is worth? Huge money. Know why? Think about all the personal information that people are giving up for free. Sure, nobody uses it for marketing or demographics.  ::)

Uhm, Facebook has revenues solidly in the 9 figures (to the left of the decimal).  But yeah, I'm on linkedin, de-activated the facebook (because you can not, yes that's right, you CAN NOT delete your profile there).

LinkedIn is just about the only one of the networking sites that I am a part of. I believe that any member here in the FOG is worthy of being in my LinkedIn network. Send me a LinkedIn invite, or let me know your name there and I will send you an invite.

Regards
Rey

sorry, I don't read the trades much. Who pays?

Lotsa licensing deals (such as publishing content), advertising through apps, etc.  I'm sure that there's some selling of information as well, not that they'd ever admit to it.

That's what creeped me out so much about it, and I stopped all activity, sending emails to everyone I know saying why. But people I hadn't spoken to in years (that I actually wanted to speak to!) keep sending me invites. As insidious as I feel it is, it's also useful. I just don't usually give a crap who's joined Red Sox Nation or wants to give me Knights for an epic battle or play scrabulous or any of that $hi7.
