Longer hose with boom arm

I recently picked up a whole load of Festool stuff from a guy who was going out of the cabinet business.

One of the things I'm keeping is a longer anti-static hose, 16 feet.

Among the discontinued items in the mix was a 1.5m Festool extension cord.

Thinking of using both with the boom arm to extend the reach a bit.

Anyone try this? Any thoughts on whether the extra length would actually reduce the benefit of the boom arm, the slack hanging could get caught up?

yes I think the slack will get caught up and will defeat the purpose of the boom arm.  the boom arm is supposed to be up and over your work area, bench or mft table etc. so you do not need much hanging down and in your way.

try it and see if it drives you nuts. !

but it will probabley be overkill.

I don't know. Sometimes I want to turn around and sand something quick on the table behind me and i did wish I had the extra length to do it instead of unplugging and setting up again just to do a quick sand.

It all depends on how you work.

I have extra ext cords(not longer ones) on one boom arm and I just loop them and hang them off the clip that holds the cords in place on the boom arm. You could do the same with the slack in the cord easily until you need more length. Then just reach up undo the loop and pull the extra length out.
