My daughter send me this photo and would like me to build something like this. Does anyone have a source for similar door inserts?

She wants a pattern that is more open than most radiator grill type covers. This will be in front of the video equipment and the openness should allow the remote control signal to pass through. With all the grills/inserts I have found they are not very open the largest is about 1 inch x 1 inch

Still looking. Of course a guy with a cnc could make this in a few minutes. I can't justify a cnc for this one project.

I would make it out of 1/4" ply. Carefully draw out the grid, use a hole saw for the large circles, make a jig for the intersections then route them out. Take a little time to work out the pattern on poster board or card board. I would probably make one, use it as a pattern to route the other 3.

You could send it out to a CNC shop to have it done.

Not sure if the motivation is the look, or the desire to have IR pass-through.

If it's the latter, have you considered an infrared extender that might give you more options with doors?  They work great even behind a solid door.

Here's an example:  Smarthome Extender
