I've got a chance to buy a used  MFT/3 BASIC MULTIFUNCTION TABLE, Product No.: 495 888,  at a real decent price. I haven't been able to find on the Festtol site and a few other sites if there is a kit to turn it into the equivalent of the MFT/3 MULTIFUNCTION TABLE, Product No.: 495 462.

If there is an upgrade kit, can you provide the product number for it?

Thanks...Steve

Steve, I'm guessing Shane will chime in with the official Festool answer shortly, in the mean time. I don't think there is an specific package to up grade the basic but you can order the parts from Festool. If you have a good dealer they'll be able to order them for you or you can order them directly from Festool as spare parts.

Well, dunno if this is less than ideal for you.  Two alternative options, at least for the fence aspect....

- Order the protractor and fence kit for the MFT1080.  It's not the same, and certainly not as well regarded.  But it would do the trick.  It aligns using the MFT holes rather than the v-groove profile.

- Skip the setup completely and invest in some MFT dogs (QWAS and/or ToolImprovement versions with threads), get some 80-20 stock or even replacement MFT fences.  With the latter you could mount the MFT stop flag for repeated cuts.

The second  route would save you considerable coin without losing much functionality (beyond irregular angles).

As far as the guide rail hinge and front stop, those are another story...

I talked to Woodcraft and found that a kit is no longer available. I called Festool and they told me how to find the online Electronic Parts System if I want to try and gather all the parts myself. I was never able to find the parts because I was looking under accessories in their catalog. I might just get an MFT-3 new instead of trying to figure out what I need. Festool is as bad as potato chips, can't just stop at 1  [crying]

I'm surprised no one at Festool helped you find the parts you need. Shane help please!

the mft3 was actually a mft3 kapex so I didn't get it. It isnt the same height as an mft3 so it wouldnt even be useable as extrension

Yeah the mft3 kapex a itty bitty thing too, with a very specific purpose.

Are you looking to save money? If I was going to scrounge the parts for a table I probably would build something bigger unless you need the portability.

Sorry, guys.  I didn't make a public announcement but I am currently on vacation visiting family and celebrating my grandmother-in-law's 100th birthday.  So, I have been absent from the forum for the most part the past several days.

Zapdafish, please send me your contact information and I'll get someone to contact you and help provide information on which components you will need to order.  There is no "set" to turn the MFT/3 Basic into a full MFT/3.  But we do stock and sell a full range of spare parts which would be inclusive of all that you need for the upgrade.

Again, sorry for the delay in responding to your inquiry.

I think I read that you can request a letter from the President.  Not sure if any of the family did it or not.  It's an amazing feat, that's for sure. And, reading back over some of the events that happened during her life was quite incredible.  I'm just glad my kids are able to enjoy having a great-grandmother.

Shane if you are still on vacation, get back to it.its all quiet here. and say hello to the mother inlaw from me [big grin]

thanks Shane but it was the mft kapex, not the mft basic so no need for me to hunt down the accessories. I plan on getting an mft3 eventually, but after I get a few more tools first
