Loose spring on Domino plunge depth setting?

Has anyone else seen this or can confirm that this is normal?

I've recently noticed that the plunge depth setting is "loose" (can move back and forth" on the 28mm setting ONLY. All others (and frankly the ones I typically use) are still tight.

Looking at the ekat diagrams, it seems there is a spring (not surprised) in there to keep pressure on the little green thingy once it's set. I'm wondering if the spring has just lost some of it's spring back and just enough to be loose at the extreme setting.

I don't normally use that setting, so I can't remember if this is "normal" or not. Can anyone confirm?

Yes, I asked Festool service and their reply was "We'd have to look at it". I'm not going send the hole tool in to find out it's not an issue, and the video I sent them (posting here too) should have been enough for that answer.

Here's a short video

Domino problem

(and no, I didn't shoot vertical video, iPhone just can't seem to figure out the orientation!)

PS. Don't know why that isn't showing up.... I really hate this forum software.

Normal -- at least based on my DF500. That little play is there in my machine, too, and I've used that depth setting many times before.

I agree that a video like yours should be good enough for a technician to give some preliminary or more helpful advice -- just not the kind like sending it in.

To post a Youtube video, you need to use the full youtube.com URL, not the youtu.be sharing URL:

I don't experience this with my primary DF500.  I don't have the time to dig out my other one right now, which is much older (pre-lawsuit version with the pins instead of tabs).

That said, does it affect the operation or the plunge depth?  The dark blue flapper should prevent it from moving to the next-most-shallow position on its own.

If it doesn't affect the plunge depth and it's not a setting you normally use, I would just keep using it, personally.

I think my spring broke. I can only set it to the 12 and 15 setting. I’m going to send mine in.
