Hello,

This is my first post here.
I needed to build a workbench but I just had a designersblock and couldn't come up with any good idea.
searching the internet and help from the woodworking forum (nl) I finally had the 'eureka' feeling

First part of the workbench is done

wood, a little paint, danish oil, a handful of threaded rods a few panels of MDF and a lot of fun

The video is 13 minutes and containes the whole building process

I would be happy to hear comments on the video/build/workbench

Good job and nice camera work!

How are you going to use the router table- it looks backwards to me?

It is backwords :-) just a mistake i noticed to late [embarassed]
But I can rotate de wooden piece in de the middle so it is no problem
The wooden piece can be take out also, so i can position my bandsaw there

Totally great bench man.  Awesome video.  I would love to make one of those, and soon enough I will be..

Video or workbench :-)

If you make it same way make sure there where things come together to work with different heights for the domino's en rods
If you take a good look at the video you can see I forgot that at a few places

Plan u please let me know which router was used. My next purchase is a OF 1010 or 1400.
Thanks

Michael in Murphy

Really nice job !

Very clever homemade route guide !

I think the router bit you used to drill the holes is not the adequate one.
As far as I remember, the right CMT router bit is a black one that allows plunge cuts.
Maybe yours will need some sharpening soon.

One error I noticed: you are using your saw in the wrong way on the rail  [scared] Try to turn it by 90 degrees ....  [big grin]

@Dogiedad,
I am using a 1400, but I still can switch to the 2200

@Christophe
This router bit is also cutting on the bottom, so it is allright for this work
MDF is pretty soft and I am using a low speed (2) so no heat development

Thanks for noticing error, a little to late  [eek]
I had 3 rails 1400, I wanted 1 (or 2) shorter ones, so I decided to cut one up in pieces

Great workbench Toqix!!

Will probably build something similar in the near future as well :D

You better do, two ships to finish, you gonna need a huuuuuuge workbench ;-)

I liked your clever use of the dadoes to allow the long threaded rods to pass thru the rails on the benches.  Those benches must be rock-solid.

I find the threaded rods a brilliant idea myself as well , you have saved alot of weight , bulk of the timber involved & also increased the rigidity of the support frames .
will use that idea when I do my own MFT , if you don't mind borrowing the style  [cool]
that router glide trick is outstanding Too !  I'm gonna do that with my Porter cable 890 as it has holes for a parallel guide .
That Vid of your just got bookmarked .
the beauty of your recording is that it's all so visual

These kind of reactions makes it all worth to make such a video
Thanks for all kind reactions

There is still part two to build, so soon another video will show up :-)

You're welcome to borrow anything you like ! aslong you make some nice pics when your bench is done  [big grin]

If anything goes as planned I will start tommorow at part two
There will be situated a router mill in combination with a Incra LS positioner, of course will I make another video

Cool ! I need as much Incra LS feedback as I can find , I'm planning on using a LS in my router table build , I'm amassing the bits & pieces right now .
So i look forward to how you use a Incra LS in your build

Don't know myself yet, but just gonna do it and I'll guess then time will tell ;-)

Is there any reason you're sawing so slowly with your mitre saw?  From my experience, I've found that you need to go about 3 times faster than what you're doing, or you'll be burning the wood.
