I'm looking for some more guidance on how to perform the initial calibration of the system.  The Steve Bace video has disappeared from Youtube and the manual with pictures seems to be gone from the Chinese Festool site. Any other resources, video or pictorial, would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Joel

Joel, there have been many LR32 videos, some covering the calibration process.

It is vital that the router be centered on the plate.

That is why I use my OF1400, It is always centered, and you don't have to worry.

Here is an excellent set of videos that one of FOG members generously took the time to put together. It should cover your needs.

I have to worry.  The holes in my sled are bigger than the screws.  So I have to use the centering mandrel.  And since I turn the sled 180 between punching columns it doubles the error.

Joel,

Do you have slop with the base plate and guide rail?  First thing you want to do is set up the guide plate to the guide rail and remove any slop with the two screws on the guide plate.

Once you get rid of the slop, install the centering mandrel, hand tight with the 8mm collet into the router.  If you have the OF1400, install the guide plate and the two screws, but don't tighten the two screws down just yet.  Once you get the screws started, plunge the router down so that the centering mandrel fits into the guide plate.  Lock the router into place and tighten the two screws to secure the guide plate to the OF1400 router.

Unlock the router and remove the center mandrel, you only need the center mandrel to center the guide plate with the router.

Next you need to calibrate the edge stops.   Place one edge stop onto the guide rail using the raised part of the rail that is closest to the splinter guard,  sorry but I don't know the technical name for that part of the guide rail,   Hope that makes sense.  With the thumb screw tighten the edge stop to the guide rail.  Match up the zeros on the edge stop on both scales on the black block and on the rod.  Take the provided allen key and loosen the screw, place the router and guide plate onto the rail.

Now, notice the "U" cut out on the guide plate,  you want to slide the guide plate up to the edge stop and match the "U" on the guide plate and the pin on the edge stop.  With the pin in the "U" cut out, tighten the screw with the allen key.   Repeat this process for the other edge stop.

Once done.  You should be set.  I hope I didn't forget anything.  It's been a long time since I calibrated my LR32....so PLEASE....If anyone noticed any step that I may have forgotten, please fill in the gaps.

So, the Steve Bace video was on a Festool employee's personal YouTube channel which was closed and I didn't have a chance to snag the video first. I thought it was lost for good and had looked for it. But the stars aligned tonight when I searched for it again and found the original video on my computer. Woot!

I put four of the sections together into a single video. This will be posted on the Festool USA YouTube channel now, so it won't disappear again.  [wink] Sorry about that.

I'll have it posted to http://festool.tv shortly.

If you run across any threads with a broken video link to this video, let me know via PM and I'll update it with the new link. Thanks.
