Ok so I ordered some more of the festool M0039 baseball caps. The ones with the Velcro and hold their structure are what I'm used to. Maybe the best baseball caps on the market due to design, shape and quality. But i got my order and they are some awful cheap quality, poor designed cap with metal buckle on the rear. They also don't fit anything like the Velcro strap ones do. Are there different designs of these things if so which ones should I have ordered to get the nicer ones out of the 2.

These ones I have are pathetic and I'm sending them back right now.

Thanks guys

Where did you order from? I've got one of the velcro ones and love it and wanted to order some more for some coworkers.  Would like to know where you bought yours before I pull the trigger.

The old ones were made by max and made in China. The new ones have a nice little USA flag on the back and are made right here.

I find the fit to be good and the hat to be comfortable. Yes, the style is a little different, but these should hold up better going through the wash.

Good to see them finding a manufacturer here in the states for the hats.

The old ones had some sort of mesh inside the front part and would fall apart in the washer.

They do say made in US but it's another case here of it ain't better made in the US. What made the Velcro ones great was they held their shape, they had Velcro so you could adjust in hot weather quickly, they didn't make you look like a tool when wearing it and they were comfortable. The new ones are the opposite of above. I got mine from bob and I'm sending them back once he gets back to me about if he sent me the wrong ones by accident. He lists his as reinforced structure and has a pic of the velcro type with the bigger logo and festool domain on the rear.

My wife said I look like a village idiot wearing the new ones  [eek]

I don't think there's is anything horrible about them. They are a different style hat, like I said the old ones fell apart after a couple trips through the washing machine.

Maybe you just have an ugly head.  [poke]

I don't put mine in the washing machine. That's the worst place for them. Dishwaser is much better for them. Put a little carpet cleaner in them and stick them in the washer with a cap washing basket and they come out like new. I have 50+ other caps I do this with and they all still lock like new.

Here's the difference for people who thinking of getting this style over the Velcro style.
Sorry for the links but this sure don't allow linking to drop box.

I do not wear hats/caps very much, but the FESTOOL hat pictured on the left does fit me great and looks nice. I know it's just a cap and not that big a deal for me, but that is a little disappointing. I'm glad that I have 4 of the older style caps and I agree, the new ones do not look nice at all.  Even though they are made in the USA, they look bad. If you didn't already know and had to guess which one was made in the USA and which one was made in China, most would think the one on the left was made in the USA, I would have anyway.

Hopefully there are some dealers with the old style left that will read this thread and reach out to you, so you can get a few of the better style caps.

I wouldn't wear either, a dark hat is to damned hot in the sun. The forcast here today is 108F in the shade so every little bit matters lol.

The older style Festool Caps were called a structured design.  The newer ones are non-structured.

Thanks Peter, I couldn't tell that by looking at the picture.  [poke]

I soak my hats when I'm working outside. Keeps me nice and cool in the sun. Indoor work I keep them dry. The color does wash out of them when dunking them in pools though.

I just contacted CPO and they said they have 16 of the type left with Velcro so I ordered another 4 from them. My festool dealer said he left his at the training thing he went to not long ago as it was a budget quality cap.

I know festool prob ain't concerned about the design going into a baseball cap but a lot of guys I know who use festool wear them caps and they all had great things to say about them. The new ones not so much. They need to get the china ones back otherwise I'm gonna have to start wearing my makita baseball caps again lol

Dish washer, ha!  It is a completely different style hat, simple. I have a bunch of different style hats and the majority are probably the same as this new one, low rise non poofy or whatever it is called.

I think the last batch of T shirts had the arm pits pinched a little, pitty.........

That's similar to the one I use. Works really well. I spray stain remover on them and then let that soak in for a bit and then put it in dishwaser on a normal cycle. It makes my non work caps look like new and my work caps look close to new.
