Mafell ksp55/36v?

KSC55 Festool is not for construction, but for fine furniture, ...
There are better battery options for construction where accuracy is +/- 1" or so.
- HKC Festool use 1x18V battery, so you have to have 1 spare all the time, and that battery is interchangeable with other Festool tool (jig saw, KSC55 saw, ...)
- KSS400 Mafell 1x36V battery, and this battery cannot be used on any Festool tool. Check the price $$$$$$$.

Which of that two = personal preference, both will over-last you

Is there a "here we go again" emoticon?

Ordered a KSS60cc (corded) with extra blades and a 770mm fixed rail on top of the standard kit. 8)
I opted to purchase it without out the "Transportkoffer/Box" as it is a L-Boxx so I will make room for the extras in a Midi Systainer.

It will be my "working machine" on site and I will keep the KSS300 for some work and I still have the Bosch GKT55CE for the odd cut at the workshop. It is bought unseen but I kind of trust Mafell on this one.

Hi Henrik,

Why did you choose the Mafell KSS60 instead of the Festool HK 55 or 85 model?
I must admit that Mafell makes slightly better saws then Festool but I'm just curious for your reasons.

I really like my HKC 55. Finally no more power cord or hose and that's a relief.

Hello!

It was a tricky decision. I was initially set on the HKC55 as I have a few 18V Festool tools and five batteries in total. But I also realized I cut mostly indoors and on site at customers houses and I rely on always having a vac set up with the tool so I really don't _need_cordless. If I was in the market for a cordless I would have gotten the HKC55 - I think.

I no longer have any Festool rails (except one Holey Rail for the OF1010) and I have six or seven Mafell/Bosch rails. I run a Bosch router and a Bosch plunge saw on those rails and I have two dedicated to the KSS300 so I have plenty of rails. Going back to Festool rails is not so tempting. The Mafell KSS60cc will be almost perfect for my intended and various use. For extremely important cuts I have a Felder Kappa 400 format saw. ;)

I was contemplating the new cordless Mafell over the HKC55 but I don't want yet another battery platform.

If Festool improve their 18V line up with three or four new tools that I miss then the HKC55 might be more tempting but for now I keep only my drills/hammer drills 18V and I hope to see a Vecturo in the Futuro. ;)

I have had the KSS60cc for a week now and I have used it a couple of days. If anyone is interested in some general thoughts the link is above.

I think that if I wasn't invested in Bosch/Mafell rails I would have gone for the Festool HKC55. I was very close to getting the HKC55 but I am developing a contact allergy towards Alu rails.  ;)

If there had been a Vecturo 18V I would have gotten the HKC55 - not for the rails but that would have made sense as it would have meant that the "only" priority tool left would have been an 18V impact drill. ;)
