Maffel drill

There's another thread here somewhere discussing these. They're re-branded Metabo drills.
 
I believe that there are worse drills, and they are in-league with Metabo on these.
The A10M is a nice little drill, and I put the centrotec green lipped adapter on it and use the centrotec bits from time to time.
I usually use the small battery, and the video also shows the 90 degree thingamajig in use, which is handy:


The ideal was when I had the Mrs putting together some Ikea stuff with a torx bit in it...  set it to '6' so as to t'oighten them by hand with Z-shaped the Ikea wrench. [big grin]

The A18M is bigger and also fits into the bohrstation. One probably needs to do timber framing work to make use of that bohrstation.
 
I have the Metabo version and I chose it over the pdc because I found it was the better tool. Torque is important to me.
 
It is also one of the shortest so it get into toight places, and it takes 1/4 bits into the drive.

[member=9290]GhostFist[/member] does yours have the "pulse" feature? If so, have you ever found a good cause to use it? [huh]
 
I don't feel their pulse feature is a reason to buy this drill. I've used it but I honestly can't say if it helped me or not.
 
Kev: the Pulse feature is one of the things I miss on the Festool drills, for several reasons.

It is great for removing damaged screws and for starting holes in tiles / metal and it works really well for larger hole saws in delicate materials. You start the pulse and when you are "done" pulsing you release the trigger, pull the trigger and you are back in normal drive mode.

I thought it a bit gimmicky at first but during the few months with the Metabo drill I did use the pulse feature at least a dozen times to great effect. My Pulse drill was an older Metabo with the gear shift on the side and I got fed up with knocking the gear selector between gears and grinding on the gears. The new models don't have that issue.
 
Simple push button on the new models. switching is real easy. Almost too easy as you can hit it by mistake. I suppose I haven't had the right application for it yet

When I purchased one of the new brushless Metabo angle grinders with the LiHD batteries, one of the bundles also offered a brushless drill/hammer for little more than a kit without the drill (unfortunately the bundle version is the non Quick chuck version). Anyway .. it has a pulse button on it that that simply pulses the power of the drill as if you were squeezing the trigger on/off really fast.
 
Pulse function is handy for drilling holes in steel, especially if you're  enlarging an existing hole. Also good if you need to countersink aluminum.
