HI Guys,
Will soon get started to make a new bench top to my kitchenette.
I would like to make one in Corian or in a simulator material.

BUT is so expensive.
The bench is just one meter and you have to buy a sheet of 3856*7200mm and it will cost you $662.

Do anyone have any experience of similar material like HI-macs or Maia?

Would be great to find a similar composite material to a lower cost.

Hi Carl

I fit solid worktops for kitchens here in the UK and there are a few varieties on the Market, Apollo Slabtech, Silestone, to name but two and these are cheaper than Corian.

Try Google with those two makes and see if they are available in Sweden.

Regards

Guy

It depends on which you go for but "ball park" £150-£200 per metre.

The Apollo Slabtech comes in 2m & 1.2m lengths.

For that size you should be able to get a remnant large enough to fit.   Do you have a counter top fabricator in your area?   We use remnants of granite and quartz products almost exclusively in our bathroom projects because buying an entire slab for a small vanity is prohibitive.  Most kitchen counter projects have enough left over to be used in Vanitiys and such.  The material was already paid for by whomever purchased the kitchen counters so the only cost the fabricator has in the material is storage.  You can get the material really cheap as they'd like to just make some money on the labor.  Hopefully you have some shops like that around you and you can start there.
