making carbon fiber wenge plywood and want to know which ts75 blade to use....the composite blade? thoughts?

I cut carbon fiber on various projects with the 493201 blade alum/plastics. it does fine but the 493200 will do a decent job as well if you already have one. If you are cutting CF PREPEG in honeycomb panels you can even use the fine tooth 493199. The key to cutting CF is  the blade has to be sharp. It will tend to dull things fast. If you are cutting CF lm/mt or WR spun stick with the triple chip tooth design.

which do you think is best, i am going to buy a new buy a new blade so i want to get the right one.

hmmm?, question.

for clarity sake, is the carbon fiber laid out in honeycomb fashion or sheet form impregnated with laminating resin?

also, out of curiosity when you fabricating the wenge / carbon plywood......

a) are you coring it with some other wood?

b) what thickness are you going after?

c) are you vacuum pressing it together?

d) is this a curved or straight lamination?

the wenge will be 1/8 thick with 2 alternating layers of carbon fiber yielding 5 layers and it will be vacuum bagged.

.......since we're talking about very thin layers of wenge,  what's to prevent the pattern of the carbon fiber weave from telescoping through to the top & bottom layer of wenge?

.......even with a caul over the top and bottom.

granted, this is not answering your blade question.......still thinking about that one.

Hi,

What interesting use are you making this for?

Seth

for extreme stability and strength and visual appeal for casework that i will post here.

tick tock, tick tock..........

any thoughts about the telescoping of the carbon weave?

tick tock, tick tock..........  ?????????????????what ???
not sure what you mean here.

these will be flat plates and and simple curves very strait forward.

I think Monte may have just wanted a response before he logged out.

..................my vote would be with the 493201, I've used it with aluminum sheeting, one inch plexi, as well fiberglass laminations. (although not fully carbon fiber, but the cloth with the carbon threads every so often.  Two things I would keep in mind would be to let the resin fully cure longer than your project time constraints might allow, even here in south cal. I would also sandwich another layer of sacrificial  material above your 1/8 inch wenge ply when cutting. //////// just my 2 cents.

......and one question, since the material your cutting is 1/8 inch thick, why aren't (if you have one) using your ts55 instead?

i was going to use sacrificial material, thanks for the tip. i have the 65 and the 75, i prefer the weight and balance that the added weight affords.
