does any out there make there own domino's especially for the Domino XL DF 700..............what methods do you use and best timber for external use i.e. in doors.
cheers.

Not much different from making regular loose tenons; plane to thickness, rip to width, round edges, which is the tricky part. I used to make a ton of 1/4" loose tenons, so I'd just use a 1/8" roundover bit.
The rounded edges are less of an issue if you use the domino's wider mortise setting for both parts of the joint.

I'm making a bunch of outdoor benches out of Ipe. I bought the Festool 8mm Sipo stock and cut tenons to length. Very inexpensive compared to buying precut tenons.

I chamfered the ends but that's probably not necessary. I can't imagine making the tenons from scratch makes sense from a time/money viewpoint.
