Disappointed to see that Festool is no longer a sponsor of the Wood Whisperer- he always does great projects. Is Festool sponsoring another craftsman?

I'm not sure why you care?

Anyway, Mark doesn't really do public videos so his audience is somewhat limited right? If you're going to sponsor someone, you should be looking for the largest audience.

kind of an interesting first post.......

I totally understand Franks post.  For me, I enjoy watching other wood workers use tools that I myself use.  Watching the wood whisperer use Festools was nice, as he may have techniques that I can learn from, using the exact same tools that I may be using.  I agree with the part of your comment about wanting to hit the largest audience possible.  However, your comment about why someone would care seemed unnecessary.  i'm sure there are many people in the same boat as Frank, myself included

i love his ch as i learned so much from him. he explains everything so well as he uses festool and very unbias about his thoughts on tools he has experience with.

I believe you're misinformed.  Last I checked there are a hundreds of publicly available free videos on his channel covering a diverse group of topics.  I also remember something about including more videos into the non-subscription section going forward.

Be that as it may, I know from a past life in advertising sales that sponsorship funds move around, strategies shift, effectiveness of various outlets are gauged against results--there could be a whole variety of reasons.  the only constant is change...  But I do know that in some markets/products there are cases for very narrow specific targeted audiences, rather than wanting to reach the largest number of just anybody.

I think it is also hard for those who are sponsored to keep it up.  While members of the FOG might like seeing how someone uses Festools the person making the content has to be cognizant that not everyone has access to every tool.  I have seen a number of his videos and while he might us a TS in some on others he uses a shop made jig and standard circular saw to make the project approachable for others who are not TS owners.  In his most recent charity project he used dowels because more people have access to those but I am sure he would have preferred to use dominos.

I care because I am a fan of Festool and also enjoy Marc's many videos - blogs - pod casts and weekly emails. He is a talented woodworker who has increased my knowledge and skill level.
I have never personally met Marc but it's evident that he's passionate about woodworking and that is a common bond with most of us here.

well, Marc was the first guy I have seen using Festool and based on his demos and experience I switched to Festool... I would like to see Marc doing some project withe Festool.

Marc has many public videos and he with the support of his sponsors has presented a lot of very useful information.  One example I'll give is his research into varnishes, poly's and oils where he explains the differences and explains how to "interrupt the sellers advertised information".

Marc is the reason I started buying Festool products....

Me too.  It was actually his side-by-side review of track saws that introduced me to Festool.
If it wasn't that fateful video, I would be using a Dewalt track saw and who knows what else!!!  [scared]

Sounds like somebody should be "Whispering to Festool" then and keep Marc onboard [wink]

I fall into this group of Festool owners as well. I first saw Marc using a TS55 and it began.

Well said.

I am in the same boat. It was Marc's  video on sanders and sanding efficiency that made me get my first Festool, the ETS 150/5. That tool made me change from hating sanding (and my old 1/4 sheet pad sander) to thinking that sanding is almost an enjoyable step in the process. I love that sander. After that, it was an easy decision to get the track saw, router, etc. If Festool could miraculously change my thoughts on sanding, the other tools would have to be good, too!
