Maxi Systainer how about using it for..

I wonder when I look at the Maxi Systainer, For some situations, would it not be more efficeint to just to go with a couple or three maxi systainers, where all tools and consumables  for a certain job type could be quickly organised and accessed..

For example I was out with my Carvex and the PDC 18/4, their two systainers seem to be kind of bulky, at the same time it seems the was a lot of wasted space... I didn't for example didn't have room in the PDC 18/4 systianer for my Forstner bits or level, it wan't convenient to have the fasnters in the systainer either.

A maxi systainer could be setup to carry both the Carvex and the Drill. a level, fastners and so on..Set up on a table you'd have one box to access all your things from..

A couple of maxi systainers side by side on a bench or table opened up could be a really neat way to keep quite a few bits and pieces organised...Close two lids snap em shut connect them together and your on your way...

Space permitting I could attach some sort of an orgnizer pouch to the inside of the lid that when opened could give easy access to hand tools for example..

Maxi Systainers a bigger better way to organize multiple tools and consumables perhaps? What are your thoughts and experiences?

A Maxi Systainer is twice as big as a regular systainer, 210mm high, the Maxi II is 165mm high..

I have the Shinex in a Maxi Sys with the car detailing kit stuff and I find it cumbersomely large to haul around.

The Midi Sys is a much more convenient size to lug around and partially stacks with normal systainers as well.

I've got to get my hands on a Midi Sys then!

I think I'll  mock up a box to the dimensions before ordering if I go with this plan..

Thanks for the help Reiska!

I would only use the maxi for things that don't fit in a standard or midi. If you start combining tools into a maxi you could easily find yourself with a box that is too heavy to easily move.

This^^^

I have two Maxi's. One holds my Planex, and is just about the perfect size and weight for that. But I could easily see over-reaching my ability to carry it if it were loaded with tools. I'll bet I could get nearly every M12 tool I own in a Maxi-Sys. But if I did, I couldn't lift it, let alone carry it anywhere!

I don't yet own a Midi, so I don't know how that would be. I think I need to buy one...

I bought one of the Midis and managed to shoe horn in a RO150, ETS150/3, RAS, and DTS400.  Four empty now systainers for other purposes.

Any idea how much it weighs loaded?

I like to get the PDC 18/4 drill, the Carvex the Centrotec bit sets, Jigsaw blades one charger and 3 batteries into a single box as well as some fasteners.. it sound like it would be possible from your list ! Thanks for posting this.. I'm not so much worried about weight as I just carry it down to the street mostly.. The MAXI actually seems like it might be easier to carry alone as it hangs like a normal suitcase, while the Midi sticks out to the sides when carrying and bumps your legs.. I think I need to get one of each to try at some point.. I'll try the Midi first...

I started using the Tough system by DeWalt in much the same way, to gang together tool of the same task. I live in an area where we have salt in the air and hope that the water resistant seal will help protect my tool. i use the Festool units to gang tool together for transport to site work, they are much lighter. That said, if I have to transport a tool in the open bed of the truck they go into Tough boxes, it rains all the time here in the Panhandle. B

Sweet Malte - I guess it doesn't fit with the saw attached, right?

The CMS Modules unit fits into the Maxi! Could be an idea...The tools have their own systainers.. It would be a good idea to keep the modules well protected under transport..

Thanks Slartifabrtfass!

Slartibartfass- I couldn't tell from your post in the previous thread on this topic, but how much modification was required to get the lid closed? I'm in a similar situation and am trying to find out if this a good solution for transport and storage.
Cheers!

None for the CMS-TS55R module.

For the CMS-PS you would need to shave of a tiny bit of metal on the bottom from the back cross brace on both sides (maybe an eighth of an inch). That has no bearing on functionality. Have not done this on my imaginary module yet and I got myself a NAINA Sys Maxi 2 which is not as high for the CMS-PS module.

Excellent news! Thanks! I've got to get to work on setting up some faux maxis for some imaginary uses.
