Maximum molding length on the Kapex UG stand with extension wings?

I did a little poking around but didn't see - what length moldings are about the limit of what you would want to cut on a Kapex in the UG stand? I have some homemade supports 4 feet and 8 feet long. If I am end-cutting a new piece of molding (~12 ft), the 8 foot wing holds it well. This setup consumes some space in my garage though.

Supports material up to 94-1/2 inches in length.

Of course, longer with overhang.

Here's a 12' piece of crown at the zero point on the saw. Without using the clamp it does not stay on the ug wing. I just use extra independent material supports when I'm working with long material. This is coming from a site use perspective but would implement the same in a shop setting!

I saw that number - so approximately 4 feet of support to each side of the blade? Does anyone use a roller stand or similar additional support for long pieces?

The telescopic extension won't reach the nested lay of the crown & also I don't see that as a material support. To me it's just an extension to continue repetitive stops past the length of the extrusion.

I thought it was probably because of the crown...

I've been thinking about making something that sort of "plugs in" to the end of the telescopic extension that could be used as a more complete material support, kind of like the old wings had. It could conceivably include another crown stop to aid in the nesting.

Those Kapex brackets are from multiblades.com and they replace the stock ug bracket in order to allow incra track for clamping crown supports, etc!  IIRC, they were about $100 for the pair shipped, done deal!  I've had em since whenever I bought the ug brackets...two years maybe.

Ahhh yes, I think I recall now..This is the solution to get crown stops with the Festool wings. Nice set up.

The telescopic extension will support material, but thin stock does tend to wander off.  I have used it to end trim  16' quarter round. Position it on the extended extension and use the material clamp on the saw.  I also used it to end trim 16' 1 x 4 , again using the clamp to hold it in place, but no wandering off the edge with  the 1 x 4. Just need to make sure you actually place it on the telescope portion rather than slide it down.  A little bit of a nuisance but it will do the job. 12' and under ... no problem. If there is too much upward bow part way along the extension a quick clamp will hold it down. Granted if doing 16' cuts often this would be a nuisance, but for a few end  cuts , not a big deal. And certainly a compact set up when not extended.

The telescoping extension is very weak. it's a nice feature for repedative stops, but offers little to no support. The telescoping extensions are extremely narrow and when I try to use them for material support, the material always falls off a frustrates me. But it's a compact and light weight wing for the kapex and I would still buy them for site work.

When I need ultimate support I reach for the sawhelper extensions with the mutliblades.com adapters. They are heavy but offer amazing support.

I joined two extensions together to handle 16' moldings.  It worked beautifully.

Cool, how did you join them? It's a more appealing approach after the price drops in Feb. Prior to the price drop, the extensions cost more than the saw  [eek]

I forgot that I tried that out too, the telescoping portion can be slid into another one and used as a connector.

Also note... the UG Extensions are not going down in price.....  497514 (L&Rset) is going up $25,  497353 / 352 (L & R seperate) are going up $10, and 497354 (UG cart set) is going up $25. 

P00107 Extension set is the old style and is dropping from $700 to $500.
