MEGA Deal from Festool UK on PDC 18 'Set' Version

Has anyone got the same wobble once the angle chuck is locked on? Mine moves(wobbles left and right by a mm or more. Should I have this replaced by TTS?

[big grin] well my pdc finally arrived  today everything seems fine with really surprised on the weight its not as heavy as it looks test it out tomorrow

Used mine on a job today , it was handy having the light on it as it started to get dark this afternoon.

I tried registering my pdc using the app but cant get it to work properly. First the s an of the barcode woul not be accepted so entered details manually. Then I can't get the date to go to 9 December 2014.  It refuses to change 12 November 2014 to December. Every time I I spin the selector to December it spins back to November.

So now I can't register my pdc as every time I restart app it already has the details of the pdc and the date of November.  If I could change the date I could move onto the next part of the registration process.

Any ideas how to proceed as I don't want to lose  one months of cover?

Register on the Festool website, leave out the bit for dealer address. And just click next, works just fine.  [smile]

I wonder if that happened to me. I registered fine on the app but when I checked the printout of the warranty I got it said it runs out in November 2017 . So it must have slipped back one month when I registered on the app

Yes, the app was definitely having none of December at all when I tried, did in on the website in the end.

On closer inspection I think I had planned to do it via the website to get around this problem, couldn't read the numbers properly on the box, scanned using the app to get them onto my phone so I could read them better, forgotten what I was doing entirely and registered via the app. Age.

I've emailed Festool about the warranty being out by a month, and reminded them that I have contacted them twice via eBay messaging system regarding a large split in the bottom of the systainer - will see what comes back.

No idea how you could manually enter the date on the app, it's a scroll wheel and it kept springing back to November when I selected December. Sure it'll get sorted out anyway.

Not registered mine or used them (I bought a pair but tbh I only really need 1 now I've seen it's fast chuck and how easy it is to use) now in fiddling about checking stuff I thought to spin them up together - (yep, looking like a gun slinger in the dining room) and noticed they sound different to each other, I just expected them to sound identical I suppose, anyone else got a pair noticed that? Also I run them up beside my Dewalt dcd985 and they don't 'seem' to spin as fast despite being rated at 0-3800 and the Dewalt 0-2000 I've not driven anything with them yet though, they haven't left the house. The Dewalt bit moves about like a Kenwood mixer in comparison though so from a precision angle they are superior.

Mark, try the speed with the torque setting on the drill right across to the right as your holding it. Cause I got the dewalt also, and thought that was fast.
Hope it helps, if you haven't already tried it? John

Hi
When the switch on the top if fully to the left or fully to the right the torque control has been switched off. As soon as it is moved away from these points the electronic torque will be active. This is when you will notice a diffrence in speed.

thanks, I tried it on the drill setting and as mentioned, I did notice it's slower on the torque setting used for driving, quite clever feature. Until I drive something I wont know so will try them out but not tonight, got enough odd looks from the misses already without going outside in my PJ's to do some random drill tests. Any thoughts on whether they should sound the same, ever ran two next to each other?

Got mine today but can't open systainer as lid is wrong side of plastic on lower half and if I force it lid will come off, definately been dropped. Should I try and open it to check drill is ok or contact festool first as I don't know if they would send me a whole unit or just the systainer

mine came the same as this and it caused damage to the systainer, the drill and RA chuck also haver minor cosmetic marks,it seems to me that this was a batch of 'seconds' and  that they have decided to offload in the UK rather than their home German market, they should not have been listed as new but instead listed as 'seconds',i will be returning mine,i am disappointed.

Phil, is the wobble I have on my angle chuck when fitted to drill normal? To me it seems wrong that a high spec drill would have this issue. The teeth are a loose fit rather than a tight fit which it should be. I ha e emailed festool through ebay and will see what they say.

I managed to register my drill on the website without any issues.

I posted about this today Phil, title was pdc 18 /4 torque.

I used mine this weekend and thought it had gone into some sort of safety mode as it was running as fast and it was really quiet. Then I realized it had slipped into the screwdriver/torque mode. Pushed it one click to the right and it was back to full speed. I never would have guessed that the torque selector would also change the speed. All the drills I've ever owned are the usual mechanical torque so this electronic torque control is a bit different :)

Loving the drill, so far my only festool drill was the cxs before this.

As the componenets are both machined surfaces a certain amount of movement is needed to fit the chuck. If not comfortable with this then use SAI and swap it over.

skinee I'd think yours had a rougher journey, the various pieces in the box like the RH bit look prone to movement and aren't wrapped to prevent any scuff or marking. The drill should perform okay but if not happy with it's cosmetics I'd think Festool will sort you out with another.

I doubt they're seconds they would have had to state that in the eBay discription if they were. The problem is festool ship the systainers in thin cardboard so things get damaged. A lot of dealers double the boxes up and use bubble wrap when they send them out.

Mine was fine :) at the end of the day if you're not happy with your bargain drill send it back and I'm sure they'll send you another one.
