MEGA Deal from Festool UK on PDC 18 'Set' Version

I know JMB has a souber but don't think he has a pdc . I do know another member who has both . I will get him to try it

I have both, I will try it out tomorrow and post results, we've been making a lot of ledge and brace doors out of 30mm mdf and found the only cutters for the souber that work are the ones for aluminium so will try that too

Sounds good will look forward to it.

For those if us deprived (or depraved?) souls on the 'wrong' side of the pond, pray tell - what is a 'souber'?

Sorry I don't have both tools to test.

I do however have the corded version which I think has the same speeds no?

Saying that I use my festool T-15 with the Souber DBB

Not amazing but it's still a lot quicker and cleaner than using a spade or auger bit and no risk of bursting cheap doors.

Well worth the money regardless of what drill you have.

Saying that I bet the PDC will make it even better.    Higher the speed the better the Souber works.

My mate has the PDC I can ask him if I can use his.

I decided not to buy the PDC because

one I own the corded for when I'm doing oak work

two I have T15

three I just spent a few grand on tooling for CNC and spindle moulder so need to be saving money!

four my mates PDC will often just not work he has to remove the battery and put it back on for it to work which put me off a little.

I told him to send it back but he says he needs the drill.

Thanks. I will watch that video later. Is souber a brand name or type of machine or what?

Souber Brand name.  The DBB is the product the type of machine I think

If you have had a cracked systainer or insert in relation to this MEGA Deal - as I did.  I can say Festool will sort it.  I phoned up last week and a replacement systainer and insert have just turned up via DPD.  If in doubt, just phone.

Well done Festool and thank you.

P.S. the package came from Germany and Festool have listened to the feedback re. packaging because this time the systainer is in a box within a box with strapping.

If you haven't seen it yet. It is similar to the PC lock morticer only for drills rather than a router.  [smile]

My replacement box arrived yesterday, not seen it yet as it's at my collection depot [tongue] . I managed to try the hammer action at the weekend on some diy in the kids rooms and yes it is noisey to the point I'd say wear ear protection! It is however more effective than say my Dewalt is on the hammer or rather seemed to make better progress (or was that me just willing it to be better!) a bit more use would help clear that one up. Okay so now we see it's the new 5.2ah batteries that must have prompted the sale but I still think it an excellent buy and am not concerned at all

I see the deal is back on for £370 plus postage for anyone interested through TTS on ebay for the 4.2ah set.

But most dealers/sites if not all are carrying 5.2ah sets now plus there will probably be a cordless voucher or offer on the way soon.
