melamine casework question

Going to build simple case out of melamine with my domino but am not sure how the glue up is supposed to work since one piece will have the slick melamine coating on it.  thnx

almost bought the new domino connector set for this but then realized it's way overkill and over budget for something that will be hidden in a closet  [tongue]

nm, just found titebond melamine glue

I‘ve had good results with melanine and normal wood glue.
I usually just take some 120grit sandpaper and give it some scratches for a better adhesion. With melamine plated MDF, the MDF fails before the glue joint does...

Roo or Titebond melamine glue will work just fine.

In my experience Titebond Melamine glue is a poor glue with low bonding strength compared to a German glue from Kleiberit #308. Once I found the Kleiberit line of glues I don't waste money on the mediocre offerings from Titebond and their many disappointments.

haha, thanks. hadn't heard of it before. Thought you might be an Aussie and it might be glue made from kangaroo's instead of horses.

Roo or Titebond melamine glue will work just fine.

Use the dominos for alignment. Use screws to hold it together. I don't trust glue only when working with melamine.

When I was building garage cabinets in a past house and wanted strength, I used a router to take off the white part at the joint, exposing bare wood for the glue to adhere to.

I dont mess with melamine.

But if I did, Im with the guy who doesnt trust using only glue. Id domino it, use Roo Melamine glue (I really like roo glue) with confermat screws.

I tried Roo and Titebond melamine with mixed results then I tried PL premium and that is all I use for melamine now. Sticks like crazy. If you have a chance do some glue tests to confirm for yourself.
