Melamine repair

Dave,

You might check with a local laminate supplier (formica, wilsonart, etc.)  In a previous life we installed laminate tops for big box stores, and we used a product called seam seal. Not the caulk, but a color matched filler for the laminate joints.  It came in a gazillion colors, and hardened like a rock.  I'll look through some old records and see if I can find some info, but it should be pretty easy for you to find locally.

Anybody have a good melamine repair/filler product and where to get it?

TIA
how big of a repair are you looking to fix?

Don't want to hijack the thread, but how about repairing this? That damage is about 1-3/4" wide by and 1 inch high.

is that melamine?is it grey?
repairing melamine is always a pita.i use seam fill, made by kampell you can find it at most laminate suppliers.
you can get a kit or buy individual tubes.i also use a paint touch up,for melamine, but i can't find it anymore.
i think it's made by mohawk products.
for small  touch up i have use appliance touch paint that you can get from hd or lowe's.
but looking at the pic. i would fill in with a body filler, then try to touch up with  paint.check your local laminate/cabinet maker suppliers for touch up paint, they may have it.

Yes, Gray melamine.

I usually just mix up some epoxy putty I have to fill. I can shape it with my hands and sand it to the exact shape in about 30 minutes.I have all kinds of colors.

Luckily this spot will not be seen when the router table is put on.

Just seeing what other people use, thanks for the info!

I have used Bondo and auto body two part filler that you can find  at any auto store. And then use a spray to even out the area with the rest. The colors that you can find at the auto store should have one to match the melemine pretty closely.

Thanks.  I appreciate the suggestions.  I just have small chips for the most part, so probably go with seam seal.

I would say a two part filler also. Can be sanded down perfectly smooth then painted over.
