Went into the past (2007) and found one of the first comprehensive threads on the MFS. It's pretty interesting, particularly reply #17 which provides info on the origin of the MFS, prior to Festool buying it.

Here's another one:

I like to use the MFs with a template guide on the router instead of using a bearing. Keeps me from messing up and routing the guide.

but that means there is an offset between the edges of the template and the actual cut the bit makes. I have a spacer block for that offset. (actually two times the offset for both sides)

So to set the template, stick a piece of the stock you want to make a space for and the block between the rails, then tighten everything down.

Easy peasy!

Yeah I like to use that trick also. I use my Lee Valley metric setup blocks for this. For example 18mm router bit + 24 mm guide bushing = 24 minus 18 makes 6 mm off-set is 3mm offset to either side.

I usually use the metric template guides instead of a bearing, but I couple them with imperial diameter router bits. So, I just created a quick cheat sheet for the router offsets so that I can dial them into the MFS setup to the closest .5mm.

In regards to the MFS Template offset, I found this excellent calculator here:http://www.diywardrobes.co.uk/documents/templateoffset

(But you need to enter all in mm's so you need to know what your bit size is in mm's).

Enter the bushing size, bit size and your required mortise length and width and it will tell you the offset, and dimensions to make your template.
