Has anyone bought the 2000 extension profiles and cut them to make a custom MFS? If so, can the hardware be purchased separately? I know the scale is not on the 2000 profiles, but couldn't you add an adhesive measuring tape to them?

I just received the MFS400 and have been thinking about ways to expand its capabilities.

Thanks,

Daniel

I purchased the 1000 profiles...it's nice to have the ability to increase size!  If the need arises, I'll get the 2000's

I'm pretty sure the hardware could be available through Festool service as ekat parts. Not sure, but a good guess.

Sure it can be done, but really, I don't know if that's a great idea.  Adhesive scale would work to some degree.  That might be problematic in that the router would ride on them wearing off the markings.  On second thought I suppose you could put the scales on the bottom side of the profiles.  You can get the hardware from Festool, call their service number to order if you decide to go that rout.  My advice is use your 400 set to see how you are going to use this setup be proceeding.  I have both the 400 and 700 sets and I use the 400 set and rarely use the 700.

Daniel:

Why do you want to cut the 2000? The profiles are available in 200, 400, 700, 1000, and 2000.

It was just a thought. I figured buying the 2000 and cutting them down to 1300 and 700 or 1000, 700, and 300, or whatever lengths would be a more cost effective way to go. I have a problem of over analyzing   ;D

I think that the 400 is the way to go initially and then add longer profiles if you need them.  I have a set of 1000 but have not used them yet (will be cutting some larger circles on a future project, though).
