I have just taken delivery of a MFS 200 with additional rails.

I have read the various tutorials on the use of this system, but have a query regarding fixing a single rail at right angles in a stand alone 'L' shape. When 4 rails are joined, the resulting rectangle is certainly solid, but I have reservations as to whether one bolt on one side only is sufficient for a 2 rail L shape to be solid.

Is it normal to rely on a single bolt in such cases, or do you use two bolts, one each side?

I don't believe I've ever used and L shaped configuration. The connection isn't super tight with one bolt. The good news is the hardware is removable so you can take it off an unused profile to mount in another. I talk about removing the hardward on this page of my MFS user guide, bottom of the page. For anyone that hasn't seen it yet, here it is, Table of Contents and on the Festool USA site in PDF format.
