After only 5 days I will be getting a second MFT/3.  To quote Ron Popiel. "Simply Amazing!"

My Sjøberg is going on Craigslist.

I got 2 you'll be surprized  how easier your life will be.

My Man Drew at Austins in SA told me that a lot of the uys have 3 of them.

Im "sort" of looking for a 3rd "sort" of means if I happen to find a good deal on one great if not no worries.

Looks like your addicted like the rest of us.

edited to add:

Now you'll need to get a Kapex and a Kapex MFT...

With the 2 MFTs the Kapex w/MFT will change your life.

I am missing a side vise for planing the edge of a board.  The slot clamps are not a good substitute.
Are there any other ways?

Not sure whether this would work for you, but a few of us have the Sjobergs Smart Vise (http://www.sjobergs.se/en/products/hobby/238.php)

Our own Cliffp has a review up on Youtube.

Perfect.

Thanks

Do you have the leg supports?
If so, If you have two MFT/3's do you buy four sets?

Dont forget the cross bars that stabilize the MFTs and limit their movement

How many cross bars do I need if I hook two MFT/3's together?  Two sets or four sets?
Are you able to use bench planes with your MFT/3?

If they are connected one set will do ya.If you get the MFT connectors to attach them together.

But I bought 2 sets because they arent always connected.

Sometimes the connectors dont give me a large enough distance between the 2 MFTs. I wish festool would make longer connectors.

Please excuse me, I'm a little slow..
There are two supports in a package... Are you saying I only need one support on each side?
I figured I'd need either two sets or four sets.

The MFT's will always be connected up tight.

The supports go on one side.

So each MFT will have one set 2 ea of supports on one  MFT.

When the MFTs are connected the set on one MFT will support the 2 of them. When they are NOT connected, each MFT would need a set of supports.

Now that I thought of it You might want to get a extra flag stop to

Can we expect a smiling face for your avatar anytime soon?  [wink]

I went home-built and "supersized" it, but having a large MFT-type workbench is really great. I keep a piece of 1/4" hardboard on one end to keep little stuff from falling thru, and for protection from glues and other liquids.

This would likely not work for you, but this is the vise I am installing on my workbench.

I've not done the jaws yet, but here is the installation of the clamp base.

Just punched "Buy It Now" for the second MTF/3, Leg Supports,  2x Table Connectors, Guide Rail Stop, and Guide Rail connector.
I am soooo hooked.
For an additional $100, it makes no sense not to order the MFT/3 with all the accessories even as a second table.

The 55" Guide Rail alone is $115.
Fence Clamp $58.  A second is great to have for a fence.
Flag Stop $45
Not to mention the Mitre Gage and fence.  That's gotta be a couple $100.

You did good. How ya gonna explain it to the wife? [eek] [eek] [eek] [eek] [eek]

Um ya.
Can't use the magic attic on new stuff.
Going with the look how much we can save by me doing it.....  (No one on this board has used that one before [big grin])
Not to mention putting some stuff on Craigslist.  Like an elliptical trainer that's been collecting dust for 5 years.

It lands tomorrow afternoon....  I'll work it out then. [embarassed]

[big grin]

It'll work great with my 4' x 9' veneer bag & platen.

POSTED THIS IN ANOTHER THREAD

I made these "Outriggers" and a four piece modular veneer platen.
The platen is a sandwich with AL mitre rails in between to hold the sections.  Full size it's 4' x 8'

The outriggers are also handy for handling large sheets.
