Just wondering if there actually is a resale market for mft/3 components. Thinking of selling mine off but don't want to waste everybody's time, especially my own. Things like the protractor, the clamp, the stops and the rail brackets are the kinds of things I have in mind or some combination of same.

Hard to track down the components as complete end items but you can do it. Has anybody got any experience with selling them? Success, failure???

I guess the miter protractor head and various parts to it is the largest and costliest of them. But you rarely find it being sold anywhere. You see the Festool miter package for the router table or other purpose built Festool tables but not the one that is part of an mft/3. I am going to try to run down the parts one by one and see if it is actually the same miter across all the various Festool tables.

Please feel free to stop reading here as the rest of this is a bit of a rant:
Boy as we enter into this faze of Internet development that has Congress in the US seriously considering Internet Regulation it really does feel like the Internet is at a crossroads. Having been 35 years a Telecom professional, to me it is still little more than a sandbox...too easily manipulated by those that mean to do me harm or take unfair advantage for me to trust it very far and a long way from plug and play if you are really trying to defend yourself. Hard to see it advancing much further under the current circumstances. It also seems to me that those that do mean to do us harm see regulation coming and are pulling out all the stops. I am reminded of that every time I just conduct an Internet search now. Have you noticed that regardless of how specifically you design your searches these days you get back the phone book with the item you specifically sorted on buried on page 6 of the responses?  That is just one example and a pretty tame one at that. The Internet is in a word....a mess at present, not much more than a toy, a convenience of sorts.

Regarding the protector fence and that on the CMS, they are the same with the exceptions of the arm and the fence.

Is there a market for these items?  Sure.  check out the classified area.  I could see a user wanting the protractor head for a secondary item for a CMS.  I believe Tom has shown that setup before.  If you used your MFT/3 for cuts that exceeded the normal setup range then to have a second set of guide rail hinge setup and feather keys could be useful to mount on a longer rail.

Guys needing to make longer cuts and doing it enough to enjoy the convenience of an extra hinge set on a longer rail is a good usage Paul. I could see that one, especially if the guy can either remove the rail easily enough leaving the hinge and bracket on the table or maybe slide the longer rail part way through it and rest the end on the floor or something. Most of the parts are available from dealers but I am never really understanding if they are sold as replacements for lost or damaged items or as add ons to existing kit.

Thanks for the info on the protractor head.
