MFT 3 Keep the saw on when you flip the rail up!

Anyone else feel that it's cumbersome to have to take the tracksaw off the rail when you flip it up on the MFT? I've seen some youtubers make little jigs to keep their Tracksaws on and I wondered if anyone has made an official or commercially available attachment? I made a quick and dirty one and it's pictured below.

With respect, I think having the saw on the rail all the time, would be more of a hinderance than a help. I think I’d get pretty fed up with it, especially when lining up a new cut.

Yes I agree, it’s not that I would always kelp the saw on because you have to make adjustments for different stock thickness and etc. It’s just in case you want to flip it up for the next cut and not have to lift it off and stow it away before you do so. I have the Cordless tracksaw which is quite heavier than the corded model so it aggravates my wrist to keep lifting it off the rail by the handle. The jig is meant to hold it in case you can and want to use it not that you have to. Also the addition does not interfere with anything since I would take that rail off and use it for something else, I have the other rails for that. I hope that clarifies the purpose.

I have the TSC55 and I could see this being helpful if making use of the flag stops on the MFT fence for multiple cuts but other than that for me I would find it awkward to have the weight of the saw on the track all the time.

I'm thinking about the Kreg Adaptive Cutting System and how the track swings up to allow the workpiece to be moved or repositioned underneath. Never used one myself but it seems that allows the saw to stay on the track and just flip it up to the raised position then align your workpiece for the next cut. The saw stays flat and on the track with no danger of it falling off or the need for some commercial or DIY accessory to capture it and prevent it from falling.

Now my brain is trying to mash the two together and come up with an adaptation that works on the MFT but with a Festool track and my TSC55.  [smile]

To me it seems like the Festool rail system is weak, and the last thing I would want to do is stress it more for fear of causing inaccuracy. Instead I built a saw shelf that sits to the right side, which folds up and fits into the tracksaw Systainer. Also built a screw together dust deflector that is right behind the end of the track and wouldn't allow the clearance needed for the saw/catch, although it could be remade. I can understand trying to find the best solution for health concerns though. The rail parts can be replaced, and possibly upgraded in the future. Leaving the saw in place sounds like a great solution for the OP.

If the weight is a little past the pivot point it would neutralize the weight of the rail and make work positioning easier.
