Hi everyone,

I have the Festool MFT/3 and the Kapex and have some questions. Can I use the extension wings on this set-up? I would like to attach the extension wings to the saw directly while it's on the MFT/3. Do the Kapex extension wing legs go down far enough to touch the ground when at said height? I wan't to pull the trigger on the wings but they would be useless to me if the legs can't touch the ground at the height of the saw being on the MFT/3.

Thanks!

The wings will be the same height as the MFT, not the saw.

I think if the saw was on the MFT-mini/kapex this may work as this setup puts the Kapex deck at the usual MFT height.

So in short the wings won't work if they're attached to the saw while the saw is on the MFT/3.

This is correct, the legs on the extension wings will not reach the floor if the saw is on the MFT/3

Does anyone know how much is needed for the extension wing legs to touch the ground? Reason I'm asking is I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the effort to use a piece of wood with a hole drilled in it for the bottom of the leg to slide in to make up the difference.

The working height of an MFT/3 is 900mm. The working height of the KAPEX MFT is 790mm.

The KAPEX MFT has holes located such that the rubber feet on the KAPEX drop in to them. It will therefore sit a little lower on a KAPEX MFT (by about 2mm) than it will when you put it on an MFT/3 as the holes won't align.

The KAPEX bed sits at the same height as a SYS 1 when on the floor (and therefore when those little feet don't drop into the holes) so that's the height it will be when placed on a MFT/3.

So all of this is the long way round of saying you'd need about 112mm extra (the height of a SYS1). Just thought the background might be interesting!  [blink]

Thank you for clarifying!  [wink]

One more question: Does anyone know the diameter of the adjustable portion on the bottom (the thickest portion) of the Kapex extension leg?

Assuming you mean the most recent Kapex extension wings, then the rubber foot is approximately 40mm in diameter.
