Mft/3 questions, mystery part and flag stop nut

Hi guys,

I purchased a mft/3 second hand (though it was completely unused) and was setting it up yesterday. I noticed a couple things and wanted to ask you festool wizards:

1. The flag stop is missing the underside nut that goes on the guide rail. Does anyone know the size of that or should I just take the knob to the store and start testing different sizes?

2. In the box of parts there is what appears to be an approximately 12" long or so maybe 1/2" thick round bar..it looks like an axle of sorts but I have no idea what it would be for. I've never seen anything like it in the known pieces that come with the mft. Any ideas on what that might be for? It seems to be solid steel by its weight.

3. The height adjustment clamps for the guide rail:
They are pretty jerky trying to adjust them up and down. Is there any way to smooth that up? Lube?  Also..the rear pivoting one feels like its getting caught up a little when I'm pushing it down. As I continue to push it clears what is binding it up and then I can continue to push it closed where it does function as intended. Sorry for the poor description. Essentially it's not as smooth of an action pushing down like the front one is. Ideas?

4. One last question. I adjusted the cams on my ts 55 and it slides pretty easily still with very little play side to side. I noticed though that when taking it off the guide rail on the mft, the saw will pull up on the guide rail a bit before it releases. Is that too tight?

Thanks

re number 2, is it flat on the sides, or round all over? If it's a rectangular bar with rounded ends, it could be a rail or table connecting bar.

re number 3, try loosening them a little. Lube won't really help much. Yes, mine did exactly what you describe so I loosened the bolts a little. You may have to lift the rail a tiny bit to get it to lock down.

re number 4 yes that's a little too tight.

I would call Festool's number to ask them about number 1.

re Number 1 - it's a M6 square nut

re Number 2 - nothing to do with a standard MFT/3

For 2: Nope, its round...pretty heavy duty steel axle type rod. I was thinking maybe it had something to do with the Kapex mounting at first, but nope. I guess I'll just set it aside. I wish it was extra guide rail connectors.  I have a set of those for comparison.

For 3: Loosen the two hex bolts on the handle? I messed around with them a little bit, first tightening, then loosening back up, but I didn't seem to get too far.  There is a good amount of play side to side (as if you were trying to turn the handle to the right or left) but all that play goes away when you actually close down the handle. Assuming that's what you're talking about, I'll try experimenting some more.

For 4: Ok, I'll back off the cams a little.

Is that M6 Square nut something that can be purchased at a hardware store or do I need to order it online? I found it on mmtoolparts website but it would be nice if it was something I could go pick up down the street.

Thanks
