I actually have had good luck with the DWS780. Being a 12" you do have to watch for deflection, but the saw once calibrated runs square. Hooked up to my CT26 it matches the dust collection of the Kapex if not better with the 36mm hose. The led positioning system is so basic but genius, no laser can match the accuracy. Cross cuts wider material. I've had the Kapex, don't get me wrong I am everything Festool but I just was not pleased with it. The way the head lowers was awkward and I found the dust collection was not as reported (not even close). Factor in the Kapex at $1400 and I got the DWS780 new for $471.00 it was a no brainer. I can do everything on the DWS780 I can do on the Kapex. Yes, the DWS780 is heavier.

I was just pulling your tail and apparently, I pulled not only your tail, but some great information.  I HAVE TO buy some tools before the end of the year to reduce my profits (I know, it sucks) and I was going to buy a Domino 500, CMS Router Table, and possibly the Kapex.  But if you're saying the DWS 780 is that good, maybe I should check it out?  My main thing that attracts me to the Kapex to be honest is the dust collection and the dual lasers.

What's this led positioning that you're taking about?

I was just stating my opinion about the DWS780. You might buy it and not like it but if you do you're out a lot less if you buy the Kapex and not like it. The Kapex has a lot of great features, for one its a Festool. Rail forward design is great to eliminate deflection and you can place it up against a wall. I didn't like the way the head pulled down, very clunky and not user friendly. Dust collection is no where near what is advertised. The weight of the Kapex was nice, very easy to carry around. In MY opinion its not a $1400 tool where as the other tools like the sanders, dust extractors, routers, track saws, MFT/3, and the CMS-VL are worth their asked price.          Another tool I bought then quickly sold was the parallel guides. I am going to the Precision Dogs guides with the Incra t-tracks, should arrive today.
The LED positioning system is simply an led light placed above the saw blade that casts a shadow of the blade onto the work piece. If you change blade kerfs the shadow is the same. So simple its genius. Lasers on tools in my opinion are yesterdays fad.
I hope this information helps and remember its all about what works for you.

I forgot about the domino, another great must have tool. I paired the DWS780 with the DW compact miter saw stand and the  FastCap rails with stops and love it.

Speaking of Parallel Guides...I just got mine yesterday...lol.  Hoping they workout OK...one thing that is weird already is that one of them is longer than the other by about an inch ??
