MFT or CMS On Casters?

Indeed it does raise the height of the MFT. i am only 5' 8" and it poses no problems for me. For a taller individual it will prevent lower back pain caused by leaning low into the work. An additional bonus to the raised height is that it is closer to my shop lights so I have more available light and less shadowing which is a big help when trying to do precision work!

It's a little different than mentioned so far, but I do have a single fixed caster mounted sideways in my MFT T track. When I pull the folded table out of the van I can carry/balance on the one wheel. Great for elevators and getting in and out of shopping malls. Downside is you can't carry anything else, but at least you don't have to carry the table  [big grin]

one thing i like about that sled is that the mft can be folded up and all your left with is a thin sled to store. the full scale sysport mft setups are great but take up a lot of room

I don't disagree, but would point out that the SysPort provides storage for items that would have to be stored somewhere else, were it not there.  I certainly don't think I would ever want to roll my SysPort to a job site.  I'd have to unload it and turn it on its side onto a dolly just to get it out the 30" back door of the shop.

I bought a set of 4 casters from Rockler  Item #43501.
I have not taken them out of the box yet, but plans (in my head) to build a sled for one of my MFT's and will figure a way to mount the casters.
The legs or sled can rest on the floor when not in use, but with foot pressure, can be lowered so the unit can roll around.
If it can work as I hope, i will mount more of my toys on same type of casters.
I don't need my MFT's to be any higher than they already are.
I won't be doing this until later in summer, or even in the fall.
will let y'all know how it works when I'm done.

I put a folded mft/3 on top of a John White design featured in FW Workshop Solutions 2008, page 46.  Used 4" casters, 2 fixed, 2 rotating/locking.  Overall table height is set just below height of table saw for use as an outfeed table.

Hi!
I wonder if stability is affected when one puts the MFT/3 on casters?
Any experience?

Those casters work great except for the fact the levers stick out into my walking space.  I have seen other DIY solutions on YT that I think are much better.  I used to have my table saw mounted on three casters.  Two were solid mounted so when saw was in use, the wheels were about 1/4" above the floor while the third wheel was mounted with a ratchet arrangement so when in use, the front legs were on the floor.  When i wanted to move the saw, I just pushed down a couple of times with my foot and the wheel was on the floor and lifting the front legs an inch or so off the floor,  Once the saw was tipped, the two solid wheels were in contact and I could roll the saw around.

I had those Rockler bracket/casters mounted on a heavy work bench at first.  With the overhang of the bench, the levers were not in the way.  However, I had to reach, as in stretch, to reach the back levers with my foot.  I do not have enough weight to do much damage in a situation like that and the only way I could raise either end of the bench was to crawl in under the overhang and push down with my hands with more of a direct action.  When i brought my CMS home, i made a rough cabinet oner that(destined for redesign), and removed those wheel brackets to the cabinet.  That was when i discovered the problem with extending out into floor space.  I now have to be real careful when moving around.  I still like the idea of those brackets and do have some other ideas bouncing around in my head (ouch).

I think I have finally figured out how to put pics on the FOG.  I will go down later today or the next rainy day and take a pic and try to send along.

I'm considering something similar to the sled.  I'd like a movable way to keep some systainers and a CT26 under the MFT3.  I'm fine with the current working height of the MFT3, so raising it like the sled shown above would probably not be ideal.  But perhaps some sort of 'lip' of some sort would work?  Something to allow shifting the MFT3 onto it, and then move it around as a group?
